  • Cheers. Is that from experience with PDWs on a synapse or just what you'd go for?

  • I'll be getting SLX to match the rest of my shimano, but if I did find another cheap set of hollowgrams Id do it.

  • strong pricing

  • Also very very ugly....

  • I told you.

    Fanboi tax.

  • Ugly bikes make their riders look pretty.

  • Limited / short run tax I reckon

  • My CAAD10 was stolen from Waterloo station bike racks this morning. Keep an eye out if yr googling for a new bike please.

  • ^^ I really want one. They can even keep the suspension.

I'd like a disc + fat-tyre road bike with road (not cx) geometry and I reckon 650b is great for that if you also want some mud/mudguard clearance.

But 2.5k is really taking the biscuit.

  • That sucks. 56cm? Is there CCTV there?

  • What if you're alrwady pretty? then an ugly bike is still going to be an ugly damn bike and doesn't belong

  • I told you.

    Fanboi tax.

£500 cheaper in the US of Freedom

  • CSG tax

Grab me a habit next time you are out there yah?

  • 56 and yup. Fingers crossed it was "one of our regulars" and I'll get it back.

  • That sucks! I am checking eBay for caad10s everyday, will let you know if a liquigas 56 pops up. How was it locked?

  • I'm more impressed that you're comfortable leaving that in Waterloo!

  • Wot no, "how was it locked?"

  • Shiny new expensive roadie is always worth the extra effort of cutting off the lock/rack so you can sell it at Nine Elms for £500, even if the Ridgeback next to it have a piece of string keeping it secure.

  • Not convinced at all with the slate, wouldn't mind a test ride though

  • I do know the 650b 42mm tyres are lovely to ride and easier to spin up, thought their measurement is a little off as the diameter is identical to 700c 23mm rather than 22mm.

  • Anyone put an eccentric bottom bracket into the BB30 on a Cannondale with internal cable routing? Trying to figure out a neat solution to turning my 2014 aluminium Synapse disc into fixed. Have got a Wheels Manufacturing eccentric for Hollowtech II cranks but the bolts and axle foul the cable guide inside the bottom bracket, push it out of position and stop the rear brake from working.

I reckon I've got three options:

    1. Ditch the rear brake. Not ideal - would prefer a brake if I can have one.
    2. Run full length outer externally - need to use zip ties or stick-on cable guides. Ugly.
    3. Drill out the cable stops in the frame and fit a full length outer inside the frame, hoping that it doesn't rattle or rub the axle where it passes through the BB. Seems a bit extreme.

    Any ideas?

  • Thanks Ed. Next time I need someone to be wise after the event I'll give you a call.

Tbh, I've been working here for a long time and have always ridden beaters to work for exactly that reason.

I bought the CAAD10 on cycle to work 2 years ago and was sick of it never getting any use. It seemed such a shame to ride for 2 hours a day on a piece of sh*t when I had a nice bike hanging the garage, gathering cobwebs with the tyres going flat. So with the good weather I decided to live a little and start commuting on it. That was about 2 weeks ago when I tarted it up with new tape, saddle and pedals. For the first time in years I was starting to really enjoy my ride again.

So for the last two weeks, when I haven't been able to blag bringing it into the office, I've left it outside with two kryptonite mini d locks on, on a top level rack, facing the station entrance in full public view, right in front of the CCTV and security office. But yesterday I came in early and there was no space other than at the back at ground level. I should have tried to bring it into the office but I'd got complacent and... that was that.

    Gutted.
