It was the wetter stuff I was thinking about..... I was probably pushed that way because of yesterday's weather reminding me of the last time I rode up York's Hill and nearly drowned. And it was "only 40 quid".
Sounds like I'd not get enough use to justify it.
I think I've only ever ridden four cross races where it's rained from start to finish. It's much rarer than you'd think.
Even at Wivelsfield Farm last year, I didn't really notice the rain once the race was underway and you had to ford a raging torrent every lap.
