on the theme of gardens and animals....i was sent this pic from my mrs earlier today. she was wondering whether i randomly went out this morning and moved the nice fake bit of grass i had which was covering all the ash from a previous bonfire.
now i'm assuming a random person wouldn't go into my garden and just move this piece of fake grass, so any ideas what else would move this? a fox?
seems a bit of a strange one to me

Is there a turd in it?

haha i'll have to have a closer look later.
excuse the garden, i'm 'doing it up' as they say -

Would a large crow be able to shift that grubbing for insects and worms?

No way it's pretty substantial to be honest. I need to get one of those remote nature camera things to record when it senses movement

I'd wager money it was the missus. She's had enough of you promising to finish the garden so has done that to accelerate the process.

haha i've found the culprits!
the sheer brazenness as well! laying out on my piece of fake grass like he owns the dam thing.

at one point one of them got caught up in the washing line and i thought for christ sake i'll have to call the rspca or whoever it is to come and untangle him. fortunately he wriggled out of it by the time i got up in the morning. there was 4 of them in total!

the thing is i have a decent 2.2 and used it when i first moved in as there was a big squirrel living in the roof so i had to deal with that. unfortunately it doesn't appear to be that powerful as lets just say it took more than 1, maybe 5 shots to take care of it. i wouldn't want to shoot a fox anyway.

You're only looking to give them a fright/sting. Just enough to encourage them to bugger off.
Big kid water guns also work.

I love foxes but I hate their eyes. You should shoot them in the eyes.

A coati?
Where were you living? -

open source software that has motion detection, https://www.ispyconnect.com/default.aspx
. Works pretty well. -

Ha ha. Judging by their behaviour / the picture I suspect they are fairly young.
In all seriousness if anyone is thinking of shooting foxes please do it properly and don't use an air rifle (you could cause a lot of suffering), but I'd counsel against anyway as the chances are another fox/group of foxes will just move right on in to their territory. Hosepipe on jet mode sounds like a good call for scaring off purposes.

Or just accept them.
Foxes live for 14 years, outside of London.
Inside London, I think the average life expectancy is about 2.
And then another one will move in.
You've filmed/photo'd cubs there. They will be gone pretty soon.
