I would personally use the Alesa. The Wolber's look more "brownish" so to say. At least on that image which might look totally different in real life. A nice black wheel combo would compliment that crazy paintjob.

Black otherwise rims will look annoyingly mismatched with the frame.

Mavic 365 stem?
-
• #330
@arawn @HHC - Will take some better photos of the wolbers in a sec. They are pretty neutral grey so could work. I cant seem to find any alesa 650c rims in clincher though or anything similar even in tubular for a reasonable price. In other news I think I just got another corima 4spoke in 650 for the front so tempted to stick with the wolbers..
@conquistador - Would like one yes, you got one for sells?
-

@BigH The Alesa Chaser model looks similar in profile but I think those only came in an anodised silver finish. I do know there are 650c Chaser rims though, could give'm a powdercoat :)
Edit: this Swiss website has them listed http://www.brocky.ch/Velo_Ersatzteile_Einzelseiten/Felgen_Renner.htm

@Carabo - Gettin them powder coated looks more hassle than its worth but It might have to happen seeing as I just found some 700c's for sale in London which could end up being a good purchase in the long run.
Had to put them wolbers up for sale as I need the money more than the rims as hard as they were to get. Time to search for some mavic track hubs in 32 spoke count please

This lava lo-pro is a really nice project. I'm a fan of nice paint job, and this one is incredible.
I'm surprised you didn't do a first "draft". I'm sure you have everything to do a full build ;) -
• #334
Thanks :-) I have built it up and taken it for a spin but dismantled it straight away so I could finish the pista properly. I have enough to build it but its not fun unless you do it right.. I should be gettin my hands on some mavic aero bars this weekend so slow progress.
Look out for some mavic hubs for me please?
-
• #335
Hmm yeah that would be an issue if you can't find rims. Maybe another vintage NOS brand that makes 650C in black black black? Is the 4 spoke already destickered?
-
• #336
Sold the Wolbers so gonna go for the Alesas at some point in the future, hopefully pick up some mavic track hubs too. The only alternative really was some Matrix iso c-11 but they 'murican and having them on a spanish frame would just be weird.
With no matching front rim I will just have to keep the corima on the front for general use. Yup, destickered and the more modern version, not the wolber branded one. It should be arriving today at some point :-D

Took the Zeus Pista to HH last sat for the #nltcbmbc trackday and stuck the fluidisk on for some marginal aero gains. Was a super fun day out and I love how it rides on track. Got the buzz so will be attending HH most saturdays and wednesday nights and maybe have a go at the pringle in the future too. Thanks @Dick for the photo -

Looks like this is going to be an epic machine. Keep it up :)
I absolutely love that lava paint job. It's truly insane in the most epic way possible.

Slow progress being made, the mavic set up is near complete, just need a stem to match or some sort of gunmetal/grey alternative -
Also picked up another jersey from france to add to the collection. Mako Cleaning is a cleaning company based in NL and had a racing team back in the day and is odd to find the jersey in the depths of france. Check out mateys face in the photo below ahah -

Also currently looking into getting a corima 4spoke rear with track and lockring threads to try and aim for some sort of old school double corima HHSTTUKB style -

Had dramas today at the red bike shop with this frame. Tried to insert the bottom bracket and realised halfway that the nds had been chased 3/4way to BSC while the drive side is french threaded, must of had some idiot mechanics work on it in the previous life. It now has a full bsc thread on the nds. Anyways..
Fitted the mis match bb and guess what.. The chainring strikes the chainstay! That leaves me in a position where I cannot use the Zeus cranks which is really annoying. I now need to look for a 112 spindle and see how it goes from there. In the meantime I thought I might as well stick my spare set of cranks on and get it up an running for now :-) -

spare set of cranks
Oh you and your lousy spare parts bin!
Won't that wider spindle mess up your chainline?
Sick frame by the way. Really unconventional paint!

spare set of cranks
Lold
Tbh those cranks look pretty good on the frame.
-
• #343
jep they do!
get a black stem btw. those grey anodized ones are wank.
-
• #344
@Tijs The suginos are JIS so sit further out on the ISO/Zeussizewhatevs spindle = no chainstay strike. Essentially sitting where a 112 ISO spindle would place the ISO/Zeus cranks. Kinda make sense right?
@hhc They actually do which is surprising. I think they need a custom 52 chainring or something stupidly loud from Mquado or Fibrelyte
@Rodolfo I think a black stem could be too shouty for this imo, if I can find an engravers then I will motivate myself to just get one for jokes and see how it looks with a 'Z' panto on the front ;-)
The only good grey anodized ones are the ITM Citta di Bassano's which are stupidly rare to find in decent sizes. Looks like im gonna put the mavics on the Cliff Shrubb instead. -

WANT WANT WANT!!!!

Lovely stem, do it!
-
• #347
They (the cranks) do for the radness of the frame.
Not doing away with the Moser records are you?
-
• #348
Gonna keep them for now, I dont know how comfortable they will be and if worse comes to worse I have other options. If I sell you have 1st dibs bro.
What do you think of double hed disques for this? rear has decals the front doesnt. maybe possible to look okay?
-
• #349
A bit late to the party but that pista is looking great! Well done! Lo-pro looks exiting too.
If you decide to go with the zeus cranks I have a nice 54t drillium chainring I don't need, it's a road tho.
What do you think of double hed disques for this?
Corima front, disc rear maybe? Then you can sell the Zeus hubs to me ;)
-
• #350
Oh, and btw, where did you find those Zeus bar-end plugs?
Cockpit inserted, much matchy matchy.. -
Got a pair of 36h Wolber gtx rims and one in 28h in 650c and was thinking to lace them to some Zeus hubs but then I saw these Alesa 9013 rims come up in 32h which could match the Mavic hubs that are for sale on here atm. The Wolbers are grey anodized and the Alesa's are black.. What would look better on this frame is the question?
Im leaning towards the Wolbers even though they have more holes... decisions decisions..
