Anyone read the abominable charles? It's alternately hilarious and moving, very enjoyable.

Anyone remember Axel Presbutton from Warrior and 2000AD? The killer cyborg with the orgasm inducing button on his chest?
-
• #204
Whut? I've been reading and collecting 2000ad for years and don't remember that!
-
• #205
Yeah, I think that the character featured in 2000AD at one point but he featured mostly in Warrior comic and some other publications. Pressbutton - also known as Axel Pushbutton in the States for some unfathomable reason - was one of my very favourite Alan Moore creations. His co - creator, Steve Moore, died last year, sadly.

I found this story online a few months back though I think that it's a number of years old. Bloody good and bloody creepy.

Is there anything like a 'comic book' ride where we go from one to the other and read everything, buy everything and discuss everything?
-
• #212
A comic book ride? Sounds like it might be a laugh. When I first came to London I intended to go to all the good comic shops then never went further than the Forbidden Planet flagship store.
I think that this might be something to do.Who knows the good comic shops?

Off the top of my head I can think of Forbidden Planet, Gosh Comics and Mega city (Camden). There must be little ones that are not so popular but we can hunt them down. I'm determined to find them haha. We can then stuff our faces with cookies and milkshakes from Cookies & Scream in Camden as a reward.

Yeah, let's do it. If we're talking weekends then I'm free most Saturdays.

How about next Saturday (22nd)?

I had no clue about 'Eggs Milk and Butter' or even 'Raygun' in Hackney! Can we add these to the route?
-
• #218
I think I can make the 22nd. Perhaps we should start a ride event thread. But, yes, I'm open to checking out whatever comic shops are around.

and people laughed at my M:TG ride idea (in which we'd ride to a suburban Subways, share one all-u-can drink fizzy pop between nine of us. trenchcoats, katanas and camden goth boots a must)

You can't get any more grim than Crossed. It made me feel sick. Still bought the second volume though.

Ray gun is my local in Hackney. They have a sister branch in Kingston I think. Would be up for a comic ride. Could be expensive... Who has a front rack?
