i weigh 91kg and both alu and carbon are fine for me
-
• #3404
more cx (uci approved frame). no eyelets, mudgard adjustment only possible with some mechanical tricks.

• #3405
The only bike I've really liked in a while. Oh well.

• #3407
Or keep the money saved for takeaways.

It does come with an extra block for the seatclamp which has rack mounts though. And hidden mounts at the dropout. I've used mine for commuting 150miles a week for a year and been very happy with it! Although i bought mine before the Defy went disc, which would also be an option if you wanted a more road orientated bike.

Cheers all. I think I'll pop to the LBS and have look.
-
• #3410
Yep you can easily fit 28s (and some 30s on the defy. However if you want mud guards, don't buy carbon as only the Alu has fixing points.

After installing 35c tyres there is no space for mudguards with Tektro 926AL Mini V. There is about half cm space.
I want to avoid cantis if I can. I went to condor to check the clearances with TRP CX 8.4 and 9 which have 85mm and 90mm clearances versus 80mm on my current brakes. Took few pics; they are both 35c knobby CX tyres and looks like there is plenty of space with both.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nrz74yz930r9z8b/2015-08-12%2013.08.25.jpg?dl=0I don't want to spend TRP money and on paper Tektro RX6 (£30 less than 8.4 at condor) look good with 90mm arms; anything else I should be looking at? I need to pair them with Tektro RL340 levers. Frame is All City Nature boy and EC70X forks.

Or did. I used them with SRAM 500 and TRP levers.
I managed to stop in time. -
• #3414
Shimano R463 and R353 both have 90mm arms
-
• #3415
Those are the ones he said aren't big enough...
-
• #3416
Meh. LIKE I LISTEN.
-
• #3417
I was confused why you'd be putting mudguards on a cross bike.
-
• #3418
R463 look good esp with cartridge style pad etc. Same price as Tektro RX6 though .. any reason to chose one over other? Google says they are 'flat bar v brakes' will they work with the road levers?
-
• #3419
It's a commuter really
-
• #3420
No idea. Should be fine.
-
• #3421
List of "v brake" arm lengths for general reference, R353 appears to measure 87mm but that's from a reader... http://www.gravelbike.com/?p=3298
-
• #3422
I know. I was trying to distract from my reading fail.
-
• #3423
Alright I'll take it to condor after work and see what they think. Ideally if there is no real advantage to R463 (prefer them over R353) I'll just stick with Tektro and keep it all matchy with a 90mm arm.
Is arm length related to cable pull?
Side note: the current £20 set up brakes far better than shop set up compression-less hope V twin that I had.
Disclaimer: I was fat then and a pro-buyer. Less of both now.

Does anyone know whether the Raleigh RX Comp is available as a frameset, rather than a complete bike?

Is arm length related to cable pull?
It's all related to 'mechanical advantage'.
Read: http://sheldonbrown.com/cantilever-geometry.html
Then the article on direct pull/(full size) v-brakes: http://sheldonbrown.com/canti-direct.htmlShould cover enough for you to figure out how.
Probably no weight limit but I have a thing about not spending a few hundred for a lighter frame when I can achieve the same weight savings by spending a few hundred a month less on takeaway.
