Only if you buy 10-speed Shimano MTB derailleurs to go with them, road and MTB are not cross-compatible.
Thanks again!

I am using a Chris King BB with Sram Omniums. Chris King make a sprung washer thing for the bearing preload when using Sram cranks, but mine seems to have given up the ghost, I can tighten up the cranks but there is then play, or I can tighten up further, the sprung washer bottoms out and the crank spider grazes the chain stay.
The BB has been on there for a year or so, and just the other week I suddenly noticed some play (initially I thought one of my pedals was fucked) and tightened the cranks up. Today I stripped everything down, regreased the BB and the problem became much more obvious.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I just buy another Chris King Sram adapter kit?

That's weird, SRAM GXP cranks shouldn't have any preload or end float. The axial position is locked by the NDS bearing being sandwiched between the NDS crank and the step on the axle.

The Sram Pf30 - BSA adapter uses a sprung washer too if that's any use.

Wow, I hadn't previously noticed what a godawful clusterfuck the Chris King BB system is. Now that I know, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

It appears that widget can collapse and generate play at the BB.

My front mech is rubbing on the chain, and a I'm off to the Alps on Sunday I wanted to double check....
Rubs when in the big ring and the smallest 4 sprockets, increasing the smaller you get. This is on a 5800 group. Which of the helpfully unlabelled screws do I adjust to sort this without a last minute run to the LBS?
Shifting is fine and I don't want to fuck it up before I go!

No H on either screw?
If not it's easy to see. Put it on the small ring and pull the mech out to the big ring by hand, you'll be able to see which screw it bumps against to stop it moving further out, turn that one.

New bike? Sound like you need to tension the cable a bit more.
-
• #70142
I'm guessing you're shimano so

i presume you have cable stops on the downtube? find out which one corresponds to the fd and twist it. this releases tension on the loaded spring in the thingy retensioning the shifter cable..

Hi, just got a second hand genesis day one disc. Never worked with discs before and when I unpacked it and put the wheels in, the discs 'sing' very lightly when I roll it back and forth. How do I sort it? Ta.

Loosen off the bolts holding the caliper to the frame, spin wheel then pull brake lever. Then tighten the bolts up again. Should sort any alignment issues out.

That sounds easy! Thanks

Might have to tweak the pads a bit as well, but try that first. Or rotors might be slightly out of true in which case bend them back with an adjustable spanner. What brakes?

Where in central london can I pick up a couple of 24" trail tyres? Having a weekend out MTBing with a mate who only has a 24" bike.
