I am trying not to think about what I've forgotten...
How is the ride stability with the weight up relatively high? Also, what are you taking if you don't mind me asking? Thinking of a similar ride...

Langster rat/beater is just about done, though I need a shorter stem to avoid my back problem returning. I'm going to just use an ahead converter as I've got a few ahead stems and OS bar setups I can use.
Annoying bits I hadn't considered needing when I thought about this build:
-Spring clip for chain
-BB spacer
-1" to 1 1/8" shim (I thought this would come with a quill to ahead converter)

Built up my Look today. Wanted to go for something more modern and something i'd be comfortable ridding everyday on the roads.
Initially wanted to put some Black omniums with the sliver 44RN, but the drive side is so tight that it just skims the chainstay which is a bit of a bummer. Is there any way i could use BB spacers to give me some room? Also having a little issue with the steerer as it has been cut way to short and can only fit a Dura - ace 7600 HS. Is it possible to replace a steerer on a carbon/aluminium fork? :(
Thanks for any help.

BB spacers would work but may mess up your chain line. Though presumably it's not in the right place anyway if the chainring is that close.

yeah BB spacers are fine. Chainline stress aint worth worrying about

I'd be wary of using more than a couple mm of BB spacers with omniums, they can leave you without enough engagement at the splines.

Was more thinking of a different headset, what i have on now is fine but i wouldn't mind having the option of using a different HS.

Did try to use some 2mm spacers but wasn't really working, guess i'll just stick with my good old DA's. Could do with some tasty photo's :)

Well I'm away for a week next week but if you can make the forum track day on the saturday I should have a camera there.
Otherwise text me at some point during the week and we'll get some sorted.

There's a thread for that. To move the chainline on a GXP crank, you don't space the cups away from the frame, you have to space the axle shoulder away from the NDS bearing, because that's what defines the axial position of the crankset.

BB spacers would work

Can we have some action shots of this thing when they occur?
I'm digging it and ...cross is coming.

One very long possibility is to cut/face the top of heat tube a few mm?

you could face the fork crown, HT upper and lower a little bit as well as maybe skimming a little off the bottom of the crown race or getting another lower stack one machined, each would be marginal but you could grab back a few MM if you really felt you needed to.
