Possible scenarios given he really, really knows this stuff

a) He bunged in a blood bag he froze whilst in a doping cycle (see Floyd and Alberto) and got his timing a bit wrong.

b) Test just got really lucky

People like Danielson make me sad . Not for him, but if no hopers like Danielson are getting popped, what does that say about the rest of peloton and the GC contenders in particular ?

Known Tory Seb Coe is saying all the blood doping evidence should be ignored and the IAAF should come out fighting journalists and scientists rather than cheats. At present, he's standing for President, relying on the votes of Diack's cabal, which installed and oversaw the current rotten system. His only rival is a Russian, the country most implicated at the moment, and coincidentally world leader in doping positives. So nothing will be done and faith in another sport heads up the swannee.

He said it's "A declaration of war" on athletics. I'd warmed to Coe in recent years, because the London Olympics was brilliant. But fuck me if he isn't coming across as the very worst sides of McQuaid and Verbruggen.

It'll be interesting to see which way the Athletics doping accusations go. It's pretty obvious that sadly pretty much all sports have huge issues with doping and I'm not sure why Coe thinks athletics should be any different.

The Eye has had plenty of coverage over the years of Lord Coe's business. It's not that he's a crook as such, you just have to remember that he has no interest at heart other than shovelling large amounts of cash into his own bank account. He will treat doping in athletics as he treats everything else - what outcome is best for my bank balance?

Coe name dropped a scientist who has written for me in the past on the Today program this morning, when he was basically saying our experts are better than your experts. I think it could be interesting to get in touch with him.

Seb Coe is a Nike spokesman and was Fifa ethics committee chair. He is currently chairman of a company that advises countries bidding for international sporting events and organises and promotes them if they win. They do alot of business with Fifa still including women's world cup.
