  • Just dropped off my mate at the start point, so my crabon on the street of Stratford! If I am selected again I would definitely do it on my 'Beater' for shit and giggles!

Lovely day for a bike ride, hope everyone rides safe and enjoy the occasion.

  • Negative split accomplished, also pleasant ride in the sun on closed roads accomplished. Only slight downer is a guy went into the back of me on a climb and went down (I was slowing down toward the end of the climb, I don't think he noticed), which I wish had not happened.

Now sat in Green park eating all the edible things in the goody bag.

  • All done. A bit of faffing by a club mate at the start meant I rolled over the timer mat and then had to wait for about ten minutes to get going. Ggrrrrr.

Anyway, paced it poorly as usual. First fifty too fast, then had to drink all the water to hold off cramp. But felt good again for the final 30.

Now going to drink beer all day.

  • I was trying hardfor sub 5.

    5:00:22.

    22 effing seconds.

  • Stood on Leith Hill, been waiting about a half hour so far. Ambulance just went past, hope the rider is OK.

  • ^^^ I, too, am now going to drink beer all day. My moving time was 4:45, and I only stopped once, so hopefully will be sub 5hrs. Edit: 4hrs 50!
    Knackered.

  • Chapeau. Enjoy the recovery.

  • That was pretty intense. 4h15 no stops. Feel like I've been hit by a bus.

  • ^ Crikey, well done.

  • Chapeau! My brother and I clocked 4:42, half an hour quicker than two years ago. This cycling lark's alright really isn't it?

  • More tack on road as usual, go Britain!

  • 04:02 pretty intense, had to fight to hold the main group a few times.

Made it to the pub before they were serving but a nice cold IPA was worth the wait.

Comedy moment (amongst many) when 2 cars got on the route and decided to drive away at 30mph, slower than we were travelling, they got a large amount of abuse directed at them!

  • Well done, that is stupid fast!
I managed 5:14 with a really slow stop at the 50 mile hub, took about 15 minutes just to walk through.
Next time will just stop quickly at the drink stations.

Saw quite a few ambulances and people lying prone, hope everyone is ok.

  • Blimey - fast times. 5.01, annoying but faster than I expected. Generally brilliant day out , great support etc, well organised. Saw the aftermath of rather too many accidents though.

    On the downside - whoppers:
those running red lights on the way to the start as if the roads were already closed
    those chucking gel wrappers
those who can't hold a line descending
twat on a hybrid with headphones on weaving all over the shop

Quite a lot of whoppers in fact.

Was also quite surprised that at the first 2% incline half the people seemed to blow. Are you from holland or something?

  • 6:25 for me, though I rode 150 miles yesterday, enjoyed the day, saw a few accidents sadly. One in Richmond Park one on the way to leith, one on leith hope they are all ok. Too many people thinking they were pros in the time I was riding (without the skills or etiquette)

DAS a spectator in a forum cap the way back to London, which was a highlight.

  • Chapeau (everyone).

I was slowing down toward the end of the climb

    You're doing it wrong Dammit.

  • We all need something to work on.

  • There was loads of people going into the back of people, wobbling into people etc on Leith Hill, it was carnage when I was on it

  • Not because of me though obvs

  • Well wasn't that fun! We arrived and found ourselves in the mass of bikes 30 yards from the start line,so rather than finding our wave and waiting another hour we started early. Day continued in a similarly good vein. Much enjoyed

  • Gf just finished. I believe she was riding in a massive amateur pack. Said couldnt go down hill on the bike cause of the crash at the bottom. London Crashfest 100 :)

Damn cyclists ruined the cycling :D

  • Well done all. Looks fun, but am a bit put off by

    Price for a Surrey ride
    Stupid early start
Seemed quite dangerous, a few of my mates got caught up in crashes when everyone went off hell for levva

Would like to give it a bash though, bet its a great experience

  • 5.38 (probably about 6 including stops) on 48x17 gearing.

Day was marred by an incident in which the other party cracked his carbon frame. I don't believe I am at fault and the guy - rather decently - refused to take my number at the time. But if the other guy is reading this and would like my details, please pm...
I was the black guy on the cinelli mash.

I don't really go on any other cycle forums, so if anyone sees anything, feel free to direct them my way.

    Thanks!

  • Anyone know what the minimum speed was meant to be to miss the 47 mile cut off diversion ?

  • It happens and is always a risk on an event with tens of thousands of riders. He'll use it as an excuse to get a new, better one. Sounds like he already decided it wasn't your fault.
