On other bogs I've looked at the bolt from the seat goes through the porcelain seat and protrudes from the underside. On our toilet the bolt goes into the top of the porcelain but then into an internal void. It appears you could get access from the rear but it's up against the wall leaving a 20mm gap, so no chance of getting a tool in there...
I was hoping it was some kind of magic bolt system that you can tighten from the top side.
