  • thanks... so will have to see an archive store to get it ;)

  • rrington as an Autumn/Winter jacket - which is usefully pretty rain-proof (at least for Lundun-town weather!

What's the difference with London rain then? Is it more expensive?

  • Expensive, doesn't make eye contact, spends all its money on craft beer and single origin coffee, works in digital meeja.

  • Promo still working; 2x pink bottles and a cap in the post, should be looking tarty for the RL100. All because the cafe doesn't have any stock!

  • Just bought a Cross umbrella from the eBay outlet lol

I spent days asking people whether they'd spend £20 on an umbrella... Hmm

lines starting with a 'greater than' denote quoted text

  • there is a rapha outlet on ebay? any chance of a link?

  • I wore my new Coral PT Jersey for the first time today. And what a colour that is. I reckon it would have been easy to get that very wrong but god its sexy. Easy 9/10.

  • How does the packable jacket compare to the classic wind jacket?

Might size down my wind jacket. Used mainly for dry rides that include mountains.

  • Not sure how it compares but theres virtually no stock left on the website...

  • What's the best out of the classic wind jacket, pro team race cape or pro team jacket for windy slightly wet/very wet and not too cold like today?

  • Especially if one runs hot?

  • Race cape if it's wet. PTJ is OK for showers, wind jacket isn't really waterproof at all.

  • Shame, I was interested in that. No option for 'notify when back in stock' so I guess they won't be restocking?

  • I really like my race cape, i was surprised how breathable it was

  • So is race cape no good in weather like today? Warm but windy and not wet?

  • I'd say it's showerproof - ie water beads on it and it will withstand 15mins or so depending on the rain.

Not sure where you were cycling today, or what sort of cycling you were doing, but from where I was (City and North) I'd have said the Wind Jacket would have been perfect.

  • The bonus With the race cape is that you can take it off. So while it may be slightly less breathable than the ptj. Its also a load more weather resistant. So great if you need versitility on a ride.

The windjacket is amazing if its dry. Just takes the edge off the Wind while being lovely and light and stretchy. Plus it packs Down pretty well.

I only used my PTJ if I knew it was going to be Cold as feck all day.

  • So race cape is less breathable than ptj but not as good in the cold?

  • Pretty much.

Its an absolute weather Shield. But it dosent insulate.

Thats were the thin merino stuff comes in for me.

Merino vest + jersey = not too warm even climbing in decent weather.
Merino arm warmers and a race cape in you jersey Pocket = not too Cold even when hit by a snow storm on a peak.

So if you're worried about the Cold just add wool.

The pro team jacket is a lovely bit of kit. But I sold mine to fund the race cape. I simply got frustrated not being able to take it off, and With a decent base. The race cape did the same job.

  • Race Cape is (as far as I can see) not breathable at all. However, I wore it at Ride100 last year and despite the fact that I was soaked through with sweat by the end, I was very warm, and it kept the rain off whilst I was waiting for the start.

  • You wouldn't want to be wearing a PTJ today, much too hot.

Race cape in the pocket for heavy showers, suck up the drizzle.

  • really?

I was hugely impressed with the breathability of mine the few times i've used it this year. Significantly better than the Gore one i've had previously (paclite)

  • I don't find my racecape breathable either, really. Gets very hot unless it's about 5 degrees for me! Plus it is very much a shower proof rather than waterproof jacket.

Can't complain too much though, rolls up small and I've never been cold wearing it.
