My contact is based in London but watch came from Italy. So yes with the strength of the pound against the Euro currently (strongest for 9 years or something daft) any EU country is the way forward for savings.

Save some shekels and don't bother with the winder. Waste of money IMHO.

Personally I'd say that for the twenty quid or so a cheap winder costs it can be worth it. I tend to wear the same watch through the week and then different ones at the weekend so I stick my weekday watch on the winder to avoid having to redo the time/date on Monday morning.

The flip-side to that is that it takes seconds to adjust any automatic with quick-set and as the watch is constantly running on a winder it will inevitably accrue more internal wear than one that isn't. Not just my view but shared by a friend who's been a watchmaker for many years.

Is interesting as I have read exact opposite. As in the continual stop / start puts more strain on the mech...

Not with modern oils. Think about it this way - keep your car running constantly, or use it when you need it.
-
• #16913
Well yes, a classic car would only be turned over intermittently for preservation.

Just wear the damn thing

The watch I tend to have on the winder is a bit fiddly to set (the date quick set is done by pulling the crown all the way out and only goes forwards, so if you accidentally pull it out too far you have to do it another 30 times, and the crown is very small). Plus the winder's on a time switch so probably only going 6 hours a day or so, so not much different to wearing it daily.
Agreed that with other watches with decent quick set dates and crowns then it probably isn't worth it.

Well, yes. So one on the winder, one on the wrist. :o)

Cross Pollination dodgy Fifa exec, puts up $10m bail bond, which includes many watches..
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/21/jeffrey-webb-fifa-bond-watches-wife-wedding-ring
watches he put up as collateral here:
According to an order filed on Monday setting the conditions for release, Webb secured the bond with five Rolex watches plus a Cartier Roadster, Hublot, Breitling, Panerai, Royal Oak Offshore and Luminor Marina. The government noted that the Hublot has not yet been turned over to the FBI and must be provided by 2 August.

The Pelagos strolls it.
Anyone wanting to pick up the original I have it on good authority that they have been recalled by Tudor to make way for their ill-advised 'update' and stocks are dwindling!
If you've been umming and ahhing over it for a few months now's the time to buy or miss the boat. If you do then go via the EU and you could pick one up for around 2k if you're swift.

Could you help me find one?

There's at least three under £2k on chrono24 (new with box and papers)

I count 2 new ones and you need to factor in delivery and insurance when buying overseas which will tip them both just over 2k.
@StandardPractice :SP did you make an alternating black and white superprecise logo t-shirt ?
Saw a dude in Brixton around 5 with what looked like your logo on.
