I'm thinking of getting a Raltech cover. What is the consensus on rear wheel build to go onder the covers? Strong and reliable, or lightweight?
What do others use? @umop3pisdn ?

Reliable.
32h Archetype on G3 but then I also have an 808 on SL+ with aerojackets.

No brainer. Might as well go for a wide rim, might get slightly smoother airflow over the wheel. I also use an Archetype, but anything will do.

Reliable. OK, well I already have a Condor (Formula) on 32h Open Pro spare rear wheel, so i could just use that then...I can build a wheel with a PT hub when I can afford it.

Strong and reliable, or lightweight?
I think adding RalTechs to my tandem rear would bring the weight up to the same as my proper disc, and the tandem wheel is 36H Rodi Airline 3 + DT Alpine III on a hefty Shimano M758 hub with a solid steel 15×120 axle :-)

Ooh, never noticed that you're using road cranks on that before.
Hope to see you back on it soon. Took me about 3 months to get back on a bike after breaking ribs, but it does depend how many and how broken, I think mine were pretty much a worst case scenario.

Looking good! Why the raised arms?

Good point, will fix that.
Did 23.03 - How much could a wheel cover save at this kind of (low) level? ~20 secs? -

It works for some but you need testing to confirm, and it's very sensitive - easy to fuck up.
No idea really, perhaps about that.

That's a pursuit/kilo bike. While the kilo is, strictly speaking, a time trial, this thread is really about road time trial bikes.

Why the raised arms?
I was reading something about this the other day: supposedly keeps the turbulent air from slamming into your chest.
Assume "It works for some..." refer to this position.
I'll try and find out his mother's maiden name. In the meantime, here's a picture:
