    Bigger tyre will typically reduce the peak loads on the fork/headset/head tube thanks to spreading impacts of a given impulse over a greater time.

  • Not so sure this is correct. A bigger (heavier) wheel will blatantly put more stress on the frame. Just look at monster trucks. Huge torsion / shear forces. Resulting in the use of artillery difs etc.

    I've looked at monster trucks. It's hard to imagine how much more wrong you could be if you think there is anything useful to be said about fat bikes from looking at monster trucks.

  • What stresses does wheel weight on a bike's front affect? A little increased inertia? Meh. There would be stress from more grip braking and turning but neither of these are a big deal. Any frame buils to withstand fat mamils through potholes it'll be overbuilt for these stresses.

    Monster truck wheels are driven and er... have no parallels really with the wheels of a bike.
