  • Yeah man SMP should ideally force people to effectively become otherkin and identify as snakes, chameleons or bulls so you'd have an easier time choosing a saddle.

    Lol...no bull dude! i'm a snake!

Recently purchased some Fizik Cyrano R3 handlesbars in 'Snake' form.

  • Getting there I think, the shifters need to move down but otherwise happy enough on a sunny pootle this afternoon. Very much think that the key to happiness is to allow yourself (well, myself) to settle fully onto/into the saddle.

  • just ordered Hell. Might be way too padded for me but we'll see.

  • More fiddling:

  • It is quite, but still good for off-road (or just potholes).

  • Your saddle to bar drop look pretty reasonable compare to how you set it up on the old Cannondale.

  • no bull dude! i'm a snake!

Fizik must think we're fucking idiots. If I want shallow drop bars but a narrow saddle because... hip angle their system marketing falls to pieces.

  • I'm very flexible but I can't hack narrow saddles or no cutout. So yeah...nice idea but fizik no go for me.

  • I think the evolution is same shape as the composit but with more padding and the dynamic is a tad wider.

  • Saddle to bar drop on this bike is greater than it was on the SystemSix.

  • I'm getting fidgety about saddles again - does anyone have either a Composit or a Dynamic kicking around which I could try for ~1 day (London based).

I'm riding a Romin, which I'm enjoying, and I've virtually eliminated my back pain, but I feel like the saddle could be more comfortable. I remember the SMP being pretty comfortable when I borrowed it from Scherrit, so I'd like to try it again now my back is better.

  • ok so the smp is definitly better in terms of seated position.

This is my previous saddle - as you can see I always slipped forward on the saddle. Unless I tilted the saddle upwards, but then I still wanted to tilt forward and it just put more pressure on me.

the smp below seems to be much better and I think I am sat in the right place. In this picture I am rotating my pelvis forward..

I still get chaffing so tempted to try an narrower SMP.

  • couple of rides done with Hell. A bit too wide for my arse but most likely ill keep it as it makes a good saddle for a beater. Comfortable in jeans and with a backpack.

My next saddle is going to be the middleground between Hell and Composit: dynamic.

  • although have to admit composit is more comfortable without a backpack. with bibs or without. It is just amazing saddle.

  • I've just switched to a Dynamic after a few years on a Fizik Arione, and after a little adjustment (a little higher and a little further back than the Arione) it's incredible what a difference to my posture and riding position it makes. It's padded enough to be fine without bibs too.

I've got an Aliexpress full carbon knockoff that I'm not using, in white with red decals - properly ugly but someone might want it to try out before going for the real deal? It's as new, never been fitted. £30 collected in N/E/Central, anyone? PM me if you want it.

  • For those creeping forwards towards the nose of the saddle (@apc?), or (perhaps reaching) to the pedals a bit and getting pressure as a result (@negaatio?): Try with your saddle a little lower.

  • :-/

    They're less than £30 new.

  • I see that now - that was the going rate when I got it a year or so ago. £20 then.

  • Tried lowering it?

Chaffing can mean saddle too high.

  • Try with your saddle a little lower.

    This. Helps a lot.

  • Are you London based? I'll take it off your hands for £20.

I'll only use it for a couple of days, so I'm happy to have it as a LFGSS test saddle if anyone else is interested?

  • Will try lowering just a touch to see if it gets rid of chaffing.

But I dont think that will solve why I move forward. I have had previous saddles higher, lower and every combination of fore & aft position and still move forwards.

  • I would def take it for £20, could collect today if thats any good?

    Thanks
