This, basically.
That bike is about as German as it gets.
By German customer standards a bike absolutely has to have:- front suspension (by all means necessary. I'm German. As my dad bought a new bike to ride to work with a year ago, I urged him to go for a rigid fork, but the shop just didn't have any.)
- a completely upright riding position. (Everyone has back problems. So do you)
- a full set of mudguards and a rear rack
- a full set of lights and reflectors (as per German law)
- as many gears as possible (more is better)
- 40+mm Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres (you don't want a puncture, do you?)
- an adjustable stem (higher is better)
- kickstand (how would you even store your bike anywhere without?)
You then buy this bike, and ride it once every week, not service it for four years and then just buy another. The bike stand at my workplace is a horrorshow.
Meh. Rant over.@bluebikerider Radon is a German brand known for high quality MTBs. That bike is built for the German market, so it is ugly, heavy and has lots of unneeded stuff on it, but it works, it's solid and it (probably) won't fail you. If that's what you want, go for it.

sure this has been discussed but what are the options for singlespeed drop bar hydraulic disc levers

ppl are just giving their opinion of the bike. Perhaps they're relating it (erroneously) to what they'd be looking for in a bike. We're cyclists. We're full of opinions. We can't help it.
It is a good deal though if its what you want. Not heard of the brand either btw.

I don't reckon anyone here will have any experience - it's a German 'trekking' bike, perfect for the urban infrastructure in their major cities, cobbled cycle lanes, tow paths etc. all pretty flat and a bit bumpy... not really something you find over here.
You're a bit wrong. I've ridden bikes like this in the UK, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. I'd totally recommended one for my Gran in flatland countries. They're a lot better than the sports shop full-sussers ridden on pavements here.

Whatever. Most cyclists are actually more healthy and strong than the average. From riding bikes! So yeah there this is a useful generalisation on a bike forum for fixed / ss bikes.

So, people who only ride bikes for transportation aren't cyclists. Get real, please!

You sound like somebody went and kill your goldfish.
Have you considered joining CTC?

After the ridicule and opinions, I've been thinking and realised I can just slot a Rohloff wheel into my All City Nature Boy and have a far better bike for £300 more than the German over engineered one and £400 less than the Rohloff version.
Win win.

Or even an 8 speed Alfine hubs would give you a decent range.
If you ride with drop bar, you can get a bar end shifter with the hubs.
Alternatively, worth checking the price difference between your All City/Internal hubs or sell them all and get a Genesis Day One Di2, a full grand off RRP is near trade price.

This sounds like a solid idea. Probably a lot lot nice too.

From CP this is so nice.

Chris Boardman mentioned something about this on his recent TV spot about Utrecht. He mentioned that in spite of all the bikes he'd not seen one single 'cyclist' just 'people on bikes'. I think its a fairly common and widely accepted distinction (albiet not a great one).
Personally I'd rather see more 'people on bikes' than more cyclists.

I used to really want one of those but the main thing that put me off was that awful 3rd party brifter they used to fit. With Di2 its a cracking bike. Sadly I've got no money.

Exactly my sentiment, this is what I like to see more in the UK, I would like people to look and go "I can ride like that to work" rather than "that look hard work with all the bright yellow, helmet, and bulky waterproof trouser"

They now come with bar end shifter for that very reason.
Would love to get that Di2 Alfine but honestly have no reason to own one.

Just saw lots of people in cars going to work. I wasn't in the least concerned, as they were only using their vehicles for transportation and therefore weren't motorists, you know, those dangerous types that drive cars.

Wow! That's a lot of bike for £1k. Wish this had been around a couple of months back when I bought my Planet X London Road - it's a lovely bike, but i'd much rather Di2 over Sram Rival.

Your contributions to this thread make me want to bring back the I bin scobled thread, ed.
You're taking this a little too seriously.
By non-cyclist, I mean people who ride bicycle just for transportation, this is usually the best way to describe it, rather than being snobbery and looking down to those who just ride because it's useful.
