Yep, that's what Garmin said! Completely agree that it sucks. I do understand from their point of view that they can't troubleshoot as they aren't the people that produce the maps.
However, from reading about on the internet a bit, and even on Garmin's own forums, this appears to be a well known issue. If they are going to sell a device that you can load maps on to, which they sell both with their own mapping included and without, I feel like they should be a bit more receptive to working out a solution with their customers who have paid quite a decent sum of money to buy their devices.
Are there any specific trails you want to use? If you like I can try to have a look on my copy of the maps and see whether they are there, if it's going to make a difference to you?
My second 810 keeps crashing when navigating as well. Again tried a factory reset, auto power off settings and checking the firmware was up to date.
Ended up on the phone to garmin support who eventually let me know that because I'm using third party maps that are unsupported by them, aside from recommending a master reset there is nothing they are willing to or able to do to resolve the issue.
I've therefore ended up doing a hippy - I'm returning the current one and I've had a brand new unit with garmin europe mapping included arrive today. Let's see how it goes. Needless to say, if there is still an issue, I'm not going to be particularly happy!
@hippy is yours still going strong with the official garmin maps?
