  • I went to the Palm Court on the pier yesterday. Seemed reasonable, quieter than some of the others due to it being halfway down the pier.

  • @Amey the only other places I can think of are Wolfies and the Dorset - but @Mr_Sworld came up with the two that first sprung to mind.

  • Bardsley's was closed so did what I generally do in Brighton .. go vegan and go to cafe lydea .. so good; so cheap! Takeaway and ate on the beach #result

    If anyone is keen: http://www.iydea.co.uk/Iydea_Vegetarian_Restaurant/Welcome.html

  • I prefer bankers.

There is a better one towards hove, can't remember the name but they do use dripping.

  • Wow. Haven't seen dripping outside of Yorkshire and a select few in the Midlands.

  • Bought Vélochef. Pancakes great and batter lasts a few days in fridge... I make them thick, like an omelette.

  • There are a few, you just have to find them it is the only way for amazing chips.

Try lard or dripping roast spuds.

  • Want dim sum tonight. Where good South/South East?

Is that big red-fronted Dim Sum and Cocktails place on Atlantic Rd any good?

  • wait for the weekend, go during the day. avoid any place that serves dim sum after 4pm. (not sure why, Mrs Hell's mum says as much)

dragon castle in E&C is the forum favorite as far as i know.

  • avoid any place that serves dim sum after 4pm. (not sure why, Mrs Hell's mum say as much)

Coz it's typically a brunch meal.
    It's like having a cappuccino after 12pm.

Personally i crave dim sum when drunk and hungover.

  • Tried Dragon Castle at your recommenz GH. Was ok. My missus didn't dig so much though.

I've actually been the Atlanctic Rd one before and recall it being empty on a weeknight and the cocktails being knock-out strong. I cannot remember what the food was like...
