Damn, I've been Schicked. Still, it's been a long day. I worked out that in 24 hours I turned the pedals on my bike just under 53 thousand times.

always a pleasure seeing you Sir,
perhaps on a forum ride soon,
fine LCC contribution as ever, bought an End-to-End book from the jumble at London Fields Cycles btw, another fine initiative,

We experienced the downpour in the van back to London. I think we must have seen quite a few people riding back, a good number of likely candidates in and around Epping, with night riding kit on their bikes. This was around 11 or so, so they were making very good time if that was indeed what they were doing.
maybe one year, when it's dry!

good idea, reckon it'd be a nice rolling ride, especially towards the end, amongst those lush village signs and possibly matching curious current inhabitants, ☺

good on you! an excuse to take it easy this week!

I finished my dun run as it began, sitting in the garden drinking a bottle of wine.

Hoeflich - my heart goes out. We had the same shenanigans and our random group kept trying to point out to the Colchester "Security" that they might want a plan for the 100's of bikes probably booked on later trains.
But despite that DD still remains my favourite ride of the year. Thank you Southwark Cyclists...

I am extremely grateful that:
I avoided getting very wet.
I got a lift to Ipswich.
I didn't set off to ride from Colchester to Ipswich, and therefore got a coach (only because my impromptu companion's Garmin wouldn't cooperate).I'm now looking forward to an imminent shower and a change of clothes.
Anyone still making their way back?! (I was originally booked on the 11.50)

... What was also good was seeing some Sible Hedingham residents help with directing people. Two people living there saw that a sign had been turned around and people were sent off riding along the wrong country lane, so they not only turned it back around but also used tape to spell out '<--- VILLAGE HALL <----' on the prominent wall at the turn. Thank you!
@Oliver Schick - Brilliant, the year I helped at the feed I chatted to immediate neighbours in the village, one of whom was attempting to sabotage the signage, the others were out to greet riders.
Yes it has been said I'm a luddite. Thanks for the offer of a scan, @davog, I might ask for that if I can't hookup with @hairnetnic by Monday week when we're riding.

Beautiful.
I popped over to Finchingfield and watched you all whizz by. Saw a solitary beardy lufguss kit wearer neatly propping his bike on the kerb opposite the pub but couldn't say hai at the time.
Drank too much beer and ground the 25 miles home slow, warm and happy.
Good to see the Finchingfield locals were in the spirit, ringing cowbells and that. It would be easy to be grumpy at all the late night effing cyclists.
Dem people on dem elliptical walky bikey things tho.

First dynamo.
Disappointed to see quite a few people doing a all night ride with no lights. Especially the two ninja on the 50 limit road.
Also heal up to the guy who hit massive pothole outside london dislocating his shoulder.
Rode there and back clocking up 400km.
Would ride again -

forgot to say thx to @Oliver Schick, and Des, and the other volunteers at the half-way stop, much enjoyed the soup, would visit again,

yes, there was a good crowd of those 'elliptical walky bikey things', say eight or so, which seemed to have made the beach in good pace,
good too see innovation alive and well,

Best EVA ! says it all. Really could feel the tail wind. Beautiful weather, great crowd, lovely crowd. Never been faster & after my; errr chequred history with the event, 5 starts but only second completion, very good to get round in such a non eventful way.
It went sooooo well now would be the ideal moment to stop, but bet I end up bookin a coach ticket in Feb "just in case."

Top ride!
Thanks to all involved. Nice to see some LFGSS friends too.
My big toe's numb and I've got nappy rash.

Same same, both my big toes and some of the little ones are still numb. Think I scrunch em up sometimes while riding.
Actually did miss the sports hall stop this time, but it felt fishy so double checked map and backtracked half a mile. Lentil soup was the best yet :)

sounds good.
well done to all involved.

I kinda teamed up with 2 random people and they didn't seem keen on sticking about at the hall so we just left after a bit, was more a toilet stop for us.

Well done to everyone...that was the longest, single ride I've ever done, just short of 180 miles. I am very hurty today, and my thumb is still numb, but it wasn't yesterday?
I've got to try to get the remaining detritus out of my eyes this morning....

Can be due to the foot and shoe/pedal/cleat interface. Stiffer soled shoes (carbon fibre in my case) solved my toe numbness on longer rides.
Epic journey! Rest up well.
