That argument made it easier to pass.

Aren't Chromoplastics metal inside and therefore also nasty when bent into
that shape. -
• #1604
You can bend it 90 degrees and it still revert back to it's original shape.

Presumably only in the direction of curvature?
-
• #1606
Yes amazingly. 28mm gp4000s on wide rims. Thinks it's a bit down to the frame (although not sure why) as I couldn't make them fit a different frame with 25mm tyres on standard width rims.

Not nearly as bad, the aluminum is contained in plastic and there's much less of it.
-
• #1608
Don't you get side spray? My 28's measure probably more than 30mm wide. I'll get chromoplastics anyways, less chance to destroy all crabonz if I crash

PDW + Canyon Ultimate AL + Michelin Pro4 25c
All good

Cranks look a bit long.

Continental have a serious problem with honest tire sizes. Had an issue with that on the fork of my track bike. 23 wouldn't fit and was actually 26. A 23 from Vittoria did fit and was actually 23. Quite frustrating after paying quite a lot for the tire.

Sportpursuit also have PDWs for £38 (£40 for the wide ones) at the moment.

Bit unusual for it to be bigger, what did it said imprinted on the sidewall?

Mean nothing when you're not riding it.

PDW fenders- is 23mm really the largest tyre size that will comfortably fit under the 30mm guards? A 45mm guard seem very wide for 25/28 tyres...
-
• #1617
^no, I got 25mm Pave under mine...
-
• #1618
"comfortably" being the key word, you can fit 25mm in it with some fiddling, it's really largely depend on the bicycle's design to accept proper mudguard.

I have a 28mm Continental GP under some 30mm PDW fenders. It fits fine, with the caveat that the guard isn't really wrapped around the tyre so much as sitting slightly above it. My frame will probably take 35mm fenders so I had some fiddle room.

Thanks for the replies... I doubt that a 45mm guard will fit on the rear of my frame, so 25c tyres may be the biggest I can go

What about mudguards for a touring bike (as opposed to PDW that seem to be for road bikes)?
Indestructibility is a priority. And relative cheapness... My touring bike is also my daily / pub bike.
EDIT: just ordered PDW 45mm version from Triton. Hopefully they're more durable than the usual SKS ones I seem to destroy every 12 months or so.

bit late, but I've got challenge pagri roubaix (31c) on open pros under the 30mm guards and they're fine.

Looking for a seat post mounted clip on guard for my Flyer.
Currently have a Zefal Swan
But the short length of the arm between guard and clamp and lack of forward (of the mounting arm) extension to the guard means my seattube cluster area still gets pretty wet (meaning water ingress into seatube/bb etc).
I think something with a longer arm and some forward extension would be better, something like this,
But that particular guard is SKS and all their clip on guards use an (according to the reviews) pretty rubbish cloth strap system to attach.
Any ideas? Or should I just fit RaceBlades?

I've seen some reasonable reviews of these. I was thinking of getting one myself. What's supposed to be the problem with the strap it looks very strong to me.

A lot of the reviews that mentioned the clamp said it was impossible to tighten it sufficiently to hold the guard in place and that subsequently it swings around the seatpost very readily.
Full metal fenders may keep you a little drier (depending on the way the stays are connected to them) but in crashes like that you or your bike may also suffer more damage.
