All Ben had to do was open the door on his stock room, rumour says it's full of moots stems / posts, CK ti and 7600 shizzle, it's the size of a double garage and packed to the ceiling, apparently.....

No, it's a J-Tech 2:1. as you say, far more subtle than the problem solver. It's a small fortune (for what it is) but look out for Hed's "3rd lever" on ebay/tt forums, as it comes with the same gizmo. Neatest solution I have seen.^^^^Haha, GT-loins. It took much less time to build up! Initially a straight forward frame swap and venting fedex frustration thinking it might need tweaking or end up touring the countries fedex depots. But, it all kinda worked out well. Feel a bit guilty for the dedicated thread. Still, things might change, a little. Plus I've had no sick paint jobs and waiting on parts to do as yet.

I've never had a bell since I had one on an old mtb I used to use on the canal a lot, my CdF came with one fitted which I decided to keep , so incredibly useful, don't know what I was doing without one. On the Argos I've got a WI freewheel which does an alright job but def gonna be getting a bell for that too, probably not as porny as yours though.

i actually quite like the gaston (tm) invention of getting rid of the brake lever you dont use (not this case surely) and then mounting the bell on the hood. did it with my tektro rl340s and it was such a convenience before the bell fell off.
your hand is on the hood 95% of the time in my case so no reaching toward middle of handlebar to scare the bsos away.im now politely screaming "entschuldiging" when passing. as said, the bell was more convenient..

It's quite powerful and resonates well, so you can flick it a way off a still be audible.
I tend to leave shouting as a last resort, as it seems to make people jump in front of you for some reason. Freewheels are always handy (the WI is a good one) or a few flicks on the levers... whistling "cuckoo" style seemed to cause an argument with a particularly wound up guy one day.
bells easy....or just ride the gap. -

Oh hai!
Not much has changed with the Roberts Max/853 build....it got a Forma saddle, big whoop!
So, I thought the current Roberts project might as well join the thread.
I'm pretty much locked in cornwall for the foreseeable and have chance to "justify" selling the city-racked-njs-rat bike for a tasty, slightly more relaxed frame in the shape of a Roberts from this very manor.
Out with the Nagasawa, in with the (other) Roberts, courtesy of all round good 'un, Eamesy.I haven't been active here for a while and to find myself back mooching about and at the same time see this frame for sale seemed too good an opportunity to miss. So, I didn't, and now I have it in my hands I certainly don't regret it. What a beauty!! Reynolds 853 main triangle, Columbus blend stays, SS dropouts and Headbadge, double cage bosses capped off with a Chris King HS.
Perfect for an all day fixed gear riding machine!and a great serial number
Build wise, as I'm out of the city, it can be dressed up a bit, as it rightly deserves. I have a couple Nitto pieces, Flite, Dura Ace gubbins, silver Phil's laced to polished Tb14's and will nick the chainset temporarily from the white Roberts. Basically a bit of poaching from other builds and some bits that have been stashed away, but all quite classic...
apart from this,
A quite ridiculous moots rsl stem, with red hardware!
The Ti pieces work beautifully on the white Roberts, so I have my fingers crossed it might work. Trouble is, it's "pro" length and steeper angle to give a 0 degree rise when fitted, as oppose to the standard 6 degree of open road stems. The frame being a 1/2cm shorter on the tt than my usual (and a cm or two shorter on the seat tube) it will need a longer stem 120-130mm I'm thinking, but that angle might make things a bit low for me.The Moots fit was one of the first things I could do, and I wanted to know if it would work or not, as I just haven't been able to part with it.
That, and clearances for some 28c's.Turns out theres plenty for the 28c refuse tyres.
and even the moots stem not looking terribly out of place at this stage.

Ha, yeah couple of bosses wouldn't look out of place...and tbh, wouldn't go amiss as it suits what i actually need from a fixed gear. I like things a little relaxed for the everyday/all day stuff. I'm sure it could still have it on the planks...with the right rider! But it'll be perfect for most of my riding.
I didn't really consider it from that point of view, but yeah it is a bit puzzling. I don't really know much about "pursuit" geo's, I guess it'll be as individual as the riders they're made for. Though does seem relaxed compered to most others. Perhaps it required a bit of the ol' gaston-style-fore-action on the saddle to get over the BB, but you'd expect things a bit tighter on the seat tube. Not sure on actual angles, the front looks a bit more on point.
I think thrust caught Chas on a "grumpy" day when enquiring, but (as always) would be interesting to find out a little more history.
