  • Do those crappy plug in reflectors fit in those holes? If so, probably.

  • Don't ride fixed when you have knee problems already- it'll only get worse.

    Not necessarily true.

Don't push weights or gears that are too big, pain and damage will also depend on the nature of your knee problems.

Indra is right here, I (used to) have minor knee problems and soreness but then geared down to a lighter ratio and the pain in my knee was more or less gone.

    -Back to topic:

I ride with toeclips + double straps, and I have never tried any different ones because I like to ride without changing shoes when I'm not cycling. Clips and straps aren't too bad tbh, they do fuck up your shoes so make sure if you are choosing clips, wear shoes you don't really care too much about. The only other problem with toe clips and straps is that the straps could possibly tear but this has never happened to me after about 6 months of me using the same straps and my brother using them for a year.

  • this is a weird thread.
thats all i've got to say.

  • well its helped me decide on a new pair of diagonal restraps and I wont have to change me pedals neither. Thank you strange thread.

  • After finding this thread, I bought a set a horizontal Restraps which I have been using for about 9 months now, commuting a 12 mile round-trip on a fixed gear in London since then. I found them to be a good alternative to a clipless system for commuting in an urban setting. No need for an extra pair of shoes (if your work allows you to wear slightly battered kicks) and the main thing for me is I find them quicker and safer to get into when getting off the lights (it might be that I am just a bit rubbish with clipless systems.) Having used them for many months now, they are still very stiff and sturdy, but do require occasional adjustment. Never had a problem with pedal-strike.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned yet that the horizontal Restraps actually have two side buckles. With the buckles you can adjust the straps into a kind of wedge shape, where the strap is tighter at the toe end, and looser on the foot/instep end, so you can get your foot in easily and still get a secure fit to the pedal. The diagonals don't have these buckles.

  • My problem with restraps is that when it rains and my bike's locked up they take on tons of water, I've gone back to cages and doubles.

  • Got the diagonal ones... will try and give me 2cents
