Cheers, i tend not to have any of the awful garmin software on my computer so didn't know it does that also.
Though 50 quid to update the maps i already have seems ridiculous so might finally try the free open map option. -

That function does not work- have a Google. It's been fucked for at least a year.

You could always use a usb otg cable and plug your garmin into your phone.
Works on my S4 -

The 810 -> bluetooth -> android phone -> Garmin Connect upload path ? I am one data point for "it works".

Cheers will do - that's laughably bad if the case. The same for 1000 I presume.
Ah Garmin, you never cease to fail.

My 1000 uplaods via bluetooth.
I bluetooth it to the phone. The it pops up on the phone saying open garmin connect, click allow.
Then as I've auto sync on it uploads automatically any new workouts. Then I turn bluetooh off and done.
Then as I have garmin auto uploads to Training Peaks. I go straight to training peaks and it's there.
Really useful.

The bluetooth is pretty useful, I find - It means that the other half can track me, and not get worried at 10pm that I haven't phoned yet.

my 500 seems to crash and then delete rides whenever I reset them 50% of the time (for example, warm up ride, reset & create new ride for TT).
It gets stuck on "1" then you have to hold reset down until it restarts the whole garmin, losing the first ride. Anyone else get this or any idea what might fix it?

Hmm, we used to do that with Google Latitude. Why they ever killed that off I'll never know.
I wonder how long my Nexus 5 lasts with Bluetooth enabled and the Garmin reporting to it though?

I presume you either make the Live Tracking thing public or she'd have to login as me?

Edge 25 looks promising for the minimalists

It sends an email with a link, and that's it, as far as I can tell.

When the ride starts?
-
• #2391
Start the app on the phone, connect with head unit, send the link, then start the ride - the tracking starts then, afaik.
And it's pretty easy to get it going again when the head unit crashes.

That's exactly what I need - Training Peaks is all I really use it for. Cheers!

I think I need a new Garmin as my 800 is dying. Was thinking of getting an 810 as a bit of an upgrade and the wireless upload seems good as my laptop is shite.
Am i right in thinking that the 810 can run 'cycling dynamics' or whatever it's called? I have a vector and so would like to be able to get all the extra info that 'dynamics' provides.

Going to buy an etrex30 as a backup.
Shame it doesn't do power. But will do navigation.
Anyone got one for sells?

Wireless upload does not work on the 810

It says it syncs with Garmin connect on all the blurbs... So is there a way to get the Garmin connect data on to strava?
-

Plug it into your computer. It says it works but it does not- have a look on the Garmin forums for 810/Connect sync problems.
I had it replace with a refurbed unit - they wanted to make me buy a new one, until I kicked up a stink that they had sent me a shitty refurb previously.
It seems to work ok at the moment, but I expect I'll need to send it back once the onboard storage fills up - I suspect that the pisspoor onboard space management is the cause of the data not being transferred.
Either way, I don't use it for beik rides any more, just running & swimming.
