Which is why I bought a 13-inch pro to begin with... are you also looking at the 13-inch air? If so, you might as well go for the pro, they weight pretty much the same and the air is actually a tough larger, tinner yes, but larger.
But if size really matters, then the decison is made really, 11-inch...

11 inch air w/ 8gb, 128gb ssd = 830
12 inch macbook - 8gb w 256 ssd = 1049. 200 quid isn't much really considering the extra storage and retina.
for me the real decision is whether lack of retina is a deal breaker or not. not sure if I can live without the pixelz.
