It's as if they can't afford for their mid-engined sports car to be faster than their signature rear-engined car because of all the effort put into arguing the rear-engine layout's case.
Mid engined, bit faster than a 911.
All manufacturers have a hierarchy, Porsche's isn't there to convince the world rear engined is faster than mid-engined, it's just there to sell a 911 for more money than a Cayman.
