  • Would be glad if it works for you - many swear by Vuescan. I for one had only troubles with it (couldn't even set up my KM) and with SF (even just installing it wrecked my PC and after I deleted it had to re-install several pieces software anew). That's the reason I'm using only the native KM software, and I even run an obsolete OS to permit it to function smoothly.

  • Well I don't see myself paying $89.95 for it, especially if there's no dust removing capabilities; also ways to adjust for different film material seems very limited.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking hate Silverfast.
Can't wrap my head around how it's possible that such a pain in the ass software is the best there is for home use.
But I guess there's no choice but make the best of it - I'm pretty sure there just won't be any new / better scan software, as nobody's developing one.

  • Vuescan does do IR cleaning/dust removal (ie ICE)
Plenty of adjustments possible for film too.

Did you switch to Professional mode? That has lots of features...

  • lol... actually, if I remember correctly, the full version of SF was much pricier compared to Vuescan - I considered buying a Reflecta scanner (which is tied with SF) and the full version of the software literally doubled the cost of the scanner, i.e. was in the realm of 250 - 300 euros; otherwise Reflecta came bundled with a ridiculously crippled version of SF (one was not allowed to export in TIFF format or something like that).
