  • Plustek not compatible with Vuescan, really?

    Could have sworn the last time I searched I did not find a functioning VueScan download;
    just checked again what Plustek scanner excactly is the one I have here (labeled QUATO) - supposedly the "Optic Film 8200i" - for which there indeed is a download!

    Just had a quick go with it; seems to work.
    Realized quickly though: there's no ICE / iSRD support - and: a full version that doesn't do massive watermarks isn't actually cheap!

  • Would be glad if it works for you - many swear by Vuescan. I for one had only troubles with it (couldn't even set up my KM) and with SF (even just installing it wrecked my PC and after I deleted it had to re-install several pieces software anew). That's the reason I'm using only the native KM software, and I even run an obsolete OS to permit it to function smoothly.

  • Well I don't see myself paying $89.95 for it, especially if there's no dust removing capabilities; also ways to adjust for different film material seems very limited.

    Don't get me wrong, I fucking hate Silverfast.
    Can't wrap my head around how it's possible that such a pain in the ass software is the best there is for home use.
    But I guess there's no choice but make the best of it - I'm pretty sure there just won't be any new / better scan software, as nobody's developing one.
