I had a bloke yesterday (white van, natch), overtake me with a foot to spare on a narrow street going uphill at about 18mph, parked cars on left, oncoming traffic, all the while leaning on his horn. Soon as he gets past he slams on his brakes as there's a van coming the other way, and I have to go round his left side so as not to pile into the back of him. I regretted giving him the finger, as 100 yards up the road he's up and out of his van, swinging a 4ft window-cleaner's pole at my head, screaming, "See next time, fucker, you're fuckin' deid."
Slightly shat me up as after a little googling there's every chance we'll cross paths again as his business - knowleswindowcleaning.com - is on the very road I commute 3 days a week on, and I am generally the only cyclist on the road at that time (the not-too-salubrious North Edinburgh suburbs).
Other problem is that a swift email to him would probably result in sweet f.a. as he's a one-man operation, and, despite the glowing testimonials on his website attesting to his undeniable skill at cleaning transparent surfaces, he's not the kindest chap on the road. So, thanks, Darren Knowles, for ruining my commute - but also knocking an adrenaline-fuelled 2 minutes off.

A colleague was knocked off by a bellend doing a u-turn which was witnessed by a few pedestrians, two of whom stopped to give witness details. According to Police Scotland Edinburgh south it was the cyclist's fault because of highway code rule 147 "slow down and hold back if a road user pulls out into your path at a junction. Allow them to get clear. Do not over-react by driving too close behind to intimidate them."
So good luck!

anyone follow any motorbike gopro channels?
I (and 3 others) got dangerously overtaken at the roadworks on Farringdon Road at a super narrow point by a black rangerover despite the sign saying DO NOT OVERTAKE CYCLISTS...No contact, but it was close enough... motorbike rider backed me up at the lights and called him out too. Driver literally said nothing, but had this murderous expression and was salivating and shaking. Wish I'd taken a number plate, anyway... if it shows up on Youtube, let me know pls!

Very bizarre experience riding home from tonight's TT.
Cruising through a village up to the lights hands off the bars, when a car overtakes me and beeps. He stops at the lights and I pull up to the window and ask if he's alright. Get the standard 'you weren't riding safely, if I knock you off it's my fault yadda yadda'. By this point the lights have gone green and back to red, so I pull ahead of him up the the white line.
He pulls up alongside me and his passenger starts filming me on her phone. I blow her a kiss, at which point she winds down the window and I ask her why she was filming me She says she might not be filming me, and if she is it's up to her what she does in her own car. I said fair enough, and wished them both a spectacular evening, trackstanded (trackstood?) until the lights changed at which point I let them head off before me and carried on my way.
Very peculiar. Am I going to be on YouTube later?

Stopped at a T junction waiting to go right, car approached from behind gave a blast of the horn then started shouting loads of crap "...get out the way or I will hit you, get out the way, get the fuck out the way..." then they got alongside and weirdly upon seeing my camera calmed down and drove off asap.
Video is uploading atm.

Report to police too.
Post links to the video on social media discussing the proprietor of Brew.

Having a breakfast meeting with traffic police in work tomorrow so I can hand over a dvd of a bus driver getting spat at and verbally attacked by yet another nutcase but that time they got out and held up loads of traffic then made a bunch of dodgy turns and stuff. I'll just run the extras needed off and report it at the same time.

That's awful. I'm glad they've actually carried out a thorough investigation and acted upon it, but what a tragedy.

Cops is right afaik. You need to touch the pavement before crossing the junction as the guy in the video did. Weird, I know.

Just had a call from the popo confirming they spoke to the driver I had a dust up with last week about his road conduct after I requested they didn't prosecute. Double win.

Nope, more myth.
Regulation 10 of the TSRGD(2002) makes it an offence to disobey a red signal, bringing in Section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988:-
(1) Where a traffic sign, being a sign— ...stuff about size/colour/compliance removed... has been lawfully placed on or near a road, a person driving or **propelling a vehicle** who fails to comply with the indication given by the sign is guilty of an offence.
Being a pedestrian a la Crank vs Brooks isn't relevant. The offence for someone pushing a bike will be due to "propelling a vehicle" (which includes pushing one) over the stop line which the red light applies to.
As a pedestrian without a bicycle (or other vehicle) it's not an offence to walk over the stop line since you're not propelling a vehicle.

Looking at that, if he'd picked the bike up, he would have been OK, as carrying it over the line isn't propelling it...

'Dear Mr mespilus
Thank you for your email of 2 June 2015 and your earlier email notifying us of the recent incident that took place between your son and our drivers.
I can now advise you that the matter has been fully investigated and dealt with in line with our formal procedures and I confirm that appropriate action has been taken. Unfortunately I am unable to advise what that action was due to reasons of confidentiality.
I just wanted to assure you that the behaviour displayed on that day is not typical of Europcar staff. I would like to sincerely apologise on behalf of the Company for any offense or upset that was caused and I will be sending your son a small token by way of compensation.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times.'
Have asked if the 'small token' can be a Tommy Voeckler signed team Europcar cycling jersey.

^^ I think that would still be propelling. Similarly if he had picked the bike up and thrown it over the line he would still have broken the law even though he never crossed the line himself.

I doubt it, you're still propelling it as it's not moving of its own accord. If you gave it a push and let go before the line and caught it after the line you've still propelled it over the line.
Ultimately the real answer won't be known until someone does it, gets an FPN and then challenges it in court. If a judge then decides that pushing/carrying/throwing a bike over the line is still "propelling a vehicle" then there's the required precedent in case law. Or it goes the other way and everyone does it until the legislation is amended to close the loophole.
Even if you manage to find a technicality (where the stop line is on a hill and the bike will move over the line due to gravity and not your propulsion) for this particular problem the Police can still consider other offences under the Road Traffic Act 1988 (as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991); it is an offence to ride recklessly on a road or in a dangerous, careless or inconsiderate manner, etc.
What is even more difficult to understand,
is that far from being the typical overweight, balding, small-cocked, 4x4 driver,
here was a someone actively trying to profit from cyclists!
May his bonnet be for evermore shitsmeared.
