  • Cheers, was trying to find your last posts on the subject but no luck...whats shit about them? After my seiko these look the best affordable option for a swiss diver for me...

  • If you select the ceramic option, then your watch comes with it installed.

If you buy an all black version and eventually give in to buying the ceramic bezel after being harranged for 2 months by internet watch bikers, then you have to fit it yourself or take it to Alsal.

    They are pretty shit watches

  • Is the ceramic bezel worth the effort? Why are these watches shit?

  • They're trolling you re: the shit thing.

Ceramic bezel is definitely worth the effort.

  • No trolling. They're just shitty watches.

  • I've seen souls and I think it's one of the best homages out there.

  • I've swapped to rubber as leather starts to smell rank after only a few times out on the bike.

If I got a vintage leather it would be 31trum's #supportyourcommunity

And yup, its an I series. Really happy to have it back on. Left it at home while on a stag do.

  • Would you say THE best under the £500 mark that's readily available now?

  • What's on this list? What are the the other competitors?

I found it very clean and well made. Sharp crisp edges and bezel turns with a distinctive click while in no way loose, moves easily. Very pleasing on the eye.

    @soul?

And are you asking best homages? Or just best under £500 all round? Or of just the sub type? Is this a hypothetical competition or for you actually to wear? Are we comparing divers and aviation and moon homages as well? Do we include pre owned?

Would i own it? I am not a fan of subs. I have 1 sub i think but its the much cheaper Skx007. And its not as well made.the bracelet on the skx is rather flimsy in comparison.

I've come very close to buying one myself.

But I'm not the right person to ask. I keep buying odd choices and a fair number are well under that limit.

  • Yes for me to wear and under the £500 budget. There are some other names such as squale which are at the 40mm range whilst the ocean 1 is 42mm which is the only thing holding me back ATM as I have smaller wrists. My skx031 fits great which is 40mm and a couple mm thinner too. Still might take a punt in the gmt pepsi steinhart.

  • I like my Steinhart, I got the Ocean Vintage Military - however I will sell it as soon as the Ocean Vintage GMT comes back into stock, as I only need one shiny watch.

  • So you're asking about submariner homages under 500?

I'd say yes. But I've never seen the Squale. And 42mm is a good size. In fact vleven though its 'large' it sits well.

But I'm not a submariner fan.

  • Nice. Was the size good for your wrists? Looks good on yours. Think mine are slimmer

  • Can you make it to SE's tomorrow? If so, i can wear mine and you can try it on...

  • Probably not but thanks for the offer mate. Would be nice to try before I buy

  • Squale make some very nice pieces. They're not homages, which personally I prefer as they have their own look / feel. Here are a couple of mine:

  • They did have an atmos which was pretty much a homage I think but all sold out. And that brand logo just kills it for me.

  • This is the squale 1545 which is...

But I don't know if its an older model or not.

  • Noice^

  • The 1545 is probably the least Squale-like Squale they do.

  • Could almost be mistaken for an homage, wot?

  • They do have thees for sale at the moment on their website but no delivery to uk option.

  • It's a homage alright but not what they're known for, they have a very long history. I guess they were cashing in on the market because people still buy homages :)
