A bit late on the discussion but any views on this bearing press tool
-
• #2055
I have one. It doesn't quite work as intended for bb30 because the press cups foul the edge of the bb shell
You can make it work properly with a thick washer or a spare bearing tho

What would you change on the build kit?

once I had a cannondale caad5. I bought the frame and it was a bit ruined (the paintjob) and I decided to PINK it. At the time I love high rims and this is how the bike was. It was very fast but a bit stiff for long rides. I sold the bike and now I miss it :)
My ideia now is to find a caad frame and set it with Sram red and mavic R-sys slr wheels.
The caad5 was a 54 (real 54 toptube ctc) and now the new caad10 54 has 54,5 of toptube... and also some other changes in the geometry... Does anyone here had an old caad 54 and now have a new caad 54? Maybe it's better to go choose a new 52 isn't it?
I ask this here because I think it's the right place to do it ;)

Shame, I just sold my 54cm CAAD6. Looking at your set up of that CAAD5, fairly set back seatpost, average stem 120mm(?) I think you'd be pretty squeezed up on a 52cm CAAD10, unless you want to run pro style stem lengths. But, as always, best thing to do is to try and test ride both the 52 and the 54.
Or just watch ebay, CAAD5's, 6's, 7's and 9's come up fairly frequently in 54cm.

I heard great things about the caad10 frameset.
Well, my friends all ride carbon. it's hard to find people with caad10 52 and caad10 54.
But maybe you're right AMAC ;) I think it will be better a 54thanks!

Yeah CAAD10's are great, I was on the look out for one myself before I found my SystemSix which is just rad so I couldn't not buy it. Cant comment on the carbon frame really as I'm half and half, CAAD10 rear Six front. Id stay 54 looking at your previous build.

I've got from a 55cm sq track bike, to a 54cm Specialized Tarmac and now on a 52cm Supersix, I'd go for the smaller one if you like. With some more stem.

FSA chainrings need to go. I put my own saddle on. Aksium wheels worked but plain gauge spokes make me sad. Wish I'd read up on how to adjust the lever throw cos that was a bit annoying as I like an early 'bite'. Spacerzz.

Whose chainrings would you use?
Totally agree the Aksiums look a bit dull, I'd want to put on a set of carbon wheels. Arione saddle suits me better and that stack of spacers would be reduced.

You can't, you can adjust the reach, but not the lever throw.
Best to simply bled it a bit more.

Can't you knock something up like this at Talbot?
-
• #2073
Frame - yes, absolutely, short travel Lefty not so much.
Unless that's an off-the-shelf fork that I'm ignorant of.
If we can buy that then it's a pretty straightforward build - we might have to turn a couple of adapters to hold the head tube, thinking about it, but we might have them already.

What about a normal 80mm travel fork?

Are you considering a lightweight steel version?
There's that.
Really, they are just not that great to look at - which is all that counts when you are considering cranks that are stiffer and lighter than DA.
Good option for cross though because like you say they are cheap, light, stiff and easy to work with.
