Bike shop should have a hacksaw and die, wouldn't be too tricky to do and should work...

Haha, it probably will work yeah but, after thinking about when I get a flat and have to take the wheel off... I might just get a rear rack... The frame has eyelets and mounts for rack and mudguard on the rear.
