Whatever you do, do Not let the garmin choose your routing.
A to B routes on the edge series are abysmal at least with the etrex series they will allow you to choose numerous intermediate points if planning routes on the device unlike the edge series that only allow you to choose an end point.
Much better to plan routes off the device using one of the many websites available.Such as ridewithgps.com

I've got no worries about power meters I just want to be able to plan routes and have a garmin direct me from point a to b without too many wobbles, and being able to find satellites without taking over a minute...
