  • i have had the Edge touring for over a year and over 10 k. i also use it for navigation and basic data recording, still haven't experienced any crash with it.
at a significantly cheaper price than the upper models, you get the same navigation and route-finding features.

  • I've got no worries about power meters I just want to be able to plan routes and have a garmin direct me from point a to b without too many wobbles, and being able to find satellites without taking over a minute...

  • Did you see that Wahoo RFLKT that Dammit posted? It talks to your phone, so all you need is a smartphone and a battery for the headunit. That'd give you up to maybe 9hrs depending on phone, phone use, etc. You could get an external battery for the phone in your jersey pocket too if going longer.

  • Whatever you do, do Not let the garmin choose your routing.
A to B routes on the edge series are abysmal at least with the etrex series they will allow you to choose numerous intermediate points if planning routes on the device unlike the edge series that only allow you to choose an end point.
Much better to plan routes off the device using one of the many websites available.

    Such as ridewithgps.com

  • well yes the touring does just that - navigation, the touring Plus does have heart rate communication via the Ant add-on, but not cadence...
i guess the plus with the touring is the touchscreen in comparison with a bryton
