  • Fair bit of Darwinism about this morning.

  • First ride in ages on the polo bike with new disc brake... Totally not bedding in, then notice I must have pulled the outer out of the adjuster at some point and it was sticking out the slot at the top of the lever... What a dickhead... Obviously didn't fix it straight away because I like the feeling of being brakeless...

Then snapped my chain, outside kingston station on dual carriage way... Which was exciting... Third one in under a year... Hmm...

    :goestocallingoutcycliststhreadforreturnjourney:-/

  • My commute was two hours ago and I'm still soaked.

  • #omnishambles

I especially enjoyed my shoulder to shoulder action with the knob end who decided to cut across from the far right hand side of the road towards the cycle path at the top of Waterloo Bridge.

  • I got told off by two cyclists for coming in contact with a cyclist overtaking me at close proximity on Clapham Common road.

Look very on here too, raw fillet brazed fixed wheeler with black lugged fork and very wide handlebar.

  • I think I muttered "learn to hold a line dickhead" 7 or 8 time over 10miles.

(really must stop talking to myself etc)

  • How come everyone seems to be getting unremunerated advice from other riders? I never get that, loads of people are getting it.

  • "Do you mind if I say something?"

  • Cycling behind a van on Mitcham lane this morning and van indicates to turn left into side lane and slows down. Overtake on the right, cue angry gesticulating and him calling me a wanker...

Only thing I can think of is that he had clocked me in his left side mirror and was expecting me to undertake him, so was annoyed that he had given me space to go through on the inside when he needn't have... Of course if I had decided to be a prat and undertake and he'd turned into me then it would also have been my fault for not being aware of the fact he was indicating to turn.

  • Traffic is fucked in southwest London too wimbledon to kingston... Is that queing from from the omnicluster in oval?

  • @Geebo15
    Bloody cyclists!

  • How come everyone seems to be getting unremunerated advice

  • Quite enjoy this breezy mild damp weather. Trees down near the Rye apparently, didn't notice it myself

  • I know right?! Thinking that they should be allowed to cycle on the same roads as good honest motorists!

  • An on here looking guy running reds poorly and weaving all over the place last night. Stickered up blue frame.

This morning had the unnerving experience of one of my hoods loosening itself, but was all good as I was just passing Hub Velo in Clapton which I'd been meaning to pop into. Borrowed an allen key off the very nice chap in there who showed me a fancy frame and talked about dodgy carbon wheels.

  • Got tooted at all the way down Brixton Rd by a car who decided that the Bus lane was solely for her use, I gave her the good grace of letting her over take me to then watch get stuck behind the 6 or so buses while I then passed her on the right.

Also had the pleasure of watching a lady put on her makeup and chat on the phone while slow trying to navigate Oval.

  • Un-asked for, unpaid and unwanted advice. You're at the lights and some ghastly bloke sidles up and says "hope you don't mind me saying but FLAT bars are better, ha ha"

  • Don't worry about Bruce - he was just offering unsolicited advice.

  • Aye, I thought that was what you meant. As Princess T commented, I was just helpfully pointing out that wasn't what you said. You did say you were missing out on the experience.

  • I may have rehearsed some responses.

  • a lady put on her makeup and chat on the phone while slow trying to navigate Oval

    Oval you say...?

    How was it?

  • Good practice for the Cross season

  • :-)

Glad to see my line preserving skills haven't deserted me during the off season.

  • Well that was "fun".
I hit one of the speed bumps on college road, one with a divot in it. That probably doesn't narrow it down much. Anyway. There was a big bang. My bars appear to have rotated down a little.
Then coming down Denmark Hill (just after the Fox) my chain dropped. Wheel locks.
"well, I had a nice life"

Stopped slowly in the bus lane with a smell of burning rubber.

    9/10
