Will all be shipped in from China. Passable quality for the domestic market.

Not China. India

Nowt wrong with Indian workmanship.
They can replicate anything.
-
• #9205
agreed, carpets are the best from india; those kiddies nimble fingers can produce very fine, even detail..

Got a quote from the manufacturer in the end - €400 for a spout. FOUR HUNDRED EURO BUCKS! FOR A BIT OF BENT STEEL!
I reckon I'm gonna bodge something in until I can remodel the kitchen. And not buy taps from MGS.

My recommendation is not to have an open fire - they look lovely of course, but they're kind of messy, go through fuel really fast, and don't put out much heat because most of it goes up the chimney.
You thought about a stove? Honestly one of the best things I've ever bought. Does cost a bit to put in, but you probably save the difference in fuel over a couple of winters. -

Anyone got any recommendations as to where to buy a nice rug? Looking for a wool pile, with a simple geometric (mid centuryish) pattern.

fucking Foxtons.
REA tried to force me to up my amount. When i balked when i had gone as high as i thought i could, i said i would think about it, she then sneakily put the offer in at the last amount i agreed too. Probably knowing i was going to drop back to my original number in spite that i might lose the place.
fucking foxtons

That's lovely but it's cotton, right? Would get sucked up by the hoover, as our current one does.

No babe.
100% heavyweight wool. -

Book another viewing, find a few picky things that you don't like, and go back to your original price.

If the mortgage is agreed then yes go for it,
If you haven't yet applied for the mortgage then you might be putting yourself in a position where you are lying on your application.IFA should be best positioned to tell you how to negotiate it.
-
• #9217
...tell the IFA
the mortgage has terms for this scenario and so u have to tell them anyway -
• #9218
The mortgage offer is also based on your circumstances being the same as they were at the time the mortgage product was offered though. Speak to your IFA.

A bit hackneyed but DFS actually do some decent ones. You're not going to get the cutting edge of style but I've got a black leather sofa that is six years old and looks like new
Wait until they have a sale on though...

ooooo
*goes off to look at Heals

Some of the Sofas on Made.com look lovely actually; was thinking about maybe getting a small one for my office for clients/cats to lounge on. The few things I've bought from them (no soft furnishings admittedly) have been rather good.

Go to their showroom in Notting Hill. It's all a bit crap in my experience.

Some of the Sofas on Made.com
are hopefully not the same cheap shit the bikes they sold were.

Nah, their homeware stuff is quite good. I've bought a few lamps and a desk off them. Bought the desk back when they were using HDNL though, and it the delivery was a right pain in the arse.

We got a sofa from Made.com and were extremely happy with it.
But maybe we were lucky.
@Señor_Bear yeah, got a mirror off them recently. Took a while to arrive but the products decent and at a reasonable price
