I think with Landa off the front it meant an easier ride for Aru as he didn't need to chase, and if he cracked well, Landa's still off the front and Contador's been working harder allowing Aru to jump away. Astana may have thought they weren't going to crack Contador and wanted to protect their podium positions and go for the stage wins, with the fact that he did crack surprising them/forcing them topull Landa back to help Aru take the win?
Was funny watching Uran's hands in the air hissy fit on the descent saying he wasn't going to help him regardless... Cracking stage all in, even if it feels like it's gone a bit pro-wrestling at points.

In hindsight Astana should probably have done things differently but... yes. The final twist being casual Uran Uran had nothing at the finish but Aru quits wibbling and is suddenly all...
A fun stage and full of surprises.

Does Aru have a pink fluffy tail?
At some point the cord to the handset should wrap around her neck and her head should fall off.

That's not actually the actual Sardinian Astana rider. Aru has a radio and this is a gif from Saved by the Belm or something.

Fabio Aru reminds me of Ed Miliband for some reason...

There are no words.
I reckon after yesterday, Contador looks a bit more vulnerable. He was properly isolated. Where were his team? Fucked because they've spent three weeks on the front.
He'll have Majka and a more in-form Kreuziger in July and he'll need them. He's been strong considering his injury but reckon he's got away with it by virtue of that TT.

I can't explain it. Worth going on YouTube to find it for sure.
I like listening to him and imagining him dishing it out in the peloton.

that TT, plus the Mortirolo. He looked properly invincible there.

Motorola.

Kreuziger will be serving a ban come July.
-
• #3541
True - that was some chase. Had to do it on his own though, not that anybody would have been able to pace him back at that rate.

Oleg! don't let Putin catch you looking like that!

Fucking UCI and their Italian conspiracy.
Marco Coledan (Trek Factory Racing) was given one of the more unusual fines of the Giro d’Italia after he stopped just before the finish line in Sestriere.
Coledan has been in his own personal battle with Roger Kluge for the lantern rouge, or maglia nera as it used to be known. Coledan was 6:20 down on Kluge at the start of the day and wanted to ensure he kept himself rooted to the bottom of the standings so he pulled up a few hundred metres from the line and waited for the IAM Cycling rider so they could go over together.
The pair seemed fairly jovial as they crossed the line, according to cyclingpro.net, but the UCI was not too amused and slapped Coledan with a 500 CHF fine, stating that: "Riders shall sportingly defend their own luck. Any collusion or behaviour likely to distort or harm the interests of the competition is forbidden.”
Coledan, however, remains at the bottom of the overall classification some 6 hours 40 behind Alberto Contador.

How many times do they play each other? This has got to be the fifth set(?).

Those little numbers probably represent that actually. So the 10th. Is it ten? I hope it's ten.
