Hey Rick, they're good guys. Is it for Hank? I've played there a few times. You just stand outside in the the passageway, in the wet patch where they hosed down butcher shop display, and play in the general direction of people milling about deciding where to eat. You feel like a busker but you get free pizza and beer. I dig it in there. Cool acoustics.

Bolax's band have played for him before. He's a man of the people, he's definitely part of the community.

Agree/ Florence at the weekend is like a nursery, it's terrible. Prince Regent all the way.
In other news, brunch (I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on sourdough) at the Lido Café is fucking fantastic

A friend of mine is in the kitchen now so no doubt it's improved, I had a terrible brunch in there two or three years back and never went back...

'granville market space' is now up and running just opposite blixton village in a disused car park. it was actually rather pleasant, usual suspects selling boringbq in amongst a few more interesting regional options. had a frisbee sized, butter soaked arepa that was fucking ace. will no doubt be accused as being another gentrification shaped nail in brixtons coffin by the usual hipster boogeyman bashing dinosaurs, especially with their appropriation of Saint Granville but honestly, who the fuck cares anymore.

Ate my first Arepa the other day, they are great, corn hot pocket stuffed with goat and spices, well nice.

the colombian butchers at the other end of white people's market sell them for pennies. just the plain ones mind you. still a top notch heart stopper of a snack.

Yo, can anyone think of somewhere interesting/eventy/outdoors I can go boozin with a couple of chilled out mates on Sat afternoon? Like a a beer festival or summat? Doesn't need to be a bloody secret showing of Citizen Kane in a converted septic tank with pop-up Crimean cuisine...
Ideal thing would be Horniman Jerk off or Brockwell Country Show, but wrong weekend. -

You can always do a little crawl of the breweries in the area.
Gipsy Hill Brewing Co
Beer Rebellion in Gipsy Hill (not a brewery but a pub)
Canopy in Herne Hill
Brixton Brewery
Beer Hive in Loughborough Junction
Or just visit one and stay there -

would suggest the streetfeast thing I went to on the weekend, pictures on previous page, despite it being in a covered market, there's a rooftop balcony to look down on the people it also plenty of bars, as well as the aforementioned street food...

would recommend yum bun, and bill or beak, as well as mama's jerk station...
Does get busy after 7, fills up for the drinking crew, and is in Lewisham..

Out door drinking (beer garden) options also include The Landor, The Falcon and The Sun but they are more Clapham direction.
If you want to go crazy then head to The Prince of Wales in Cleaver Sq, they can loan you sets of petanque for using outside in the square
not sure of any events on, I think there is something at the Doodle Bar in Battersea -

The Sun
Please, stahp.
Aye, Cleaver Square is a belter.
I liked the model market better when I could buy Wu-tang acetates for £2
