@hats
Bournemouth half is good if you want a PB - Early October though...Gradual downhill for 4.5 miles and then pretty flat along the prom.

Thanks for the suggestions, y'all. I can't do this weekend which is a shame as I certainly have demons to slay in Windsor. Bournemouth sounds good (shame about some of the people that live there though!), I reckon I'll sign up to that. Southend is on a day I can't do. Wine estate one is meant to be great although I don't drink so I probably wouldn't make the most of it.
Moar suggestions please!!
I found this one in a "forest" near(ish) me: http://www.positivestepspt.co.uk/events/kingsforestmarathon/ 300 runners max, I reckon I could probably deal with that.

I'm doing the last 40 miles of GUCR with my mate on Sunday. When I meet him he'll already have done over 100 miles and be a needy, grumpy fucker with gastric troubles and nasty feet. He probably won't be fit to do any more running.
Is it wrong to hope he quits at 70-80 miles?

I ran round the park tonight, it was interestingly difficult for the first km, then got steadily easier, at the point at which I had to go back to the hotel for a shower I was just getting into my stride, somewhat annoyingly.

That's a savage race. My dad has attempted it a couple of times, can't think of anything worse than endless canals.

Extended commute. Took it easy since it was 6km further that I've properly run before and didn't want to blow up.
Hence new HM PB of 2:10:50.
Not bad given I'm still carrying far too much weight (BMI=28 but swimming has replaced lots of the lard with muscle).
Now off to EAT ALL THE THINGS!

If anyone fancies something a little longer, and arguably a lot harder, than your average half marathon I can strongly recommend the North Downs Run (30k) at the end of June. Mainly off-road, very hilly, absolutely stunning scenery, and really well organised with free tea & cake at the end, not to mention live music. (Guitar and fiddle bashing out Neil Young last year IIRC.) I'm going back for my third race this year. http://www.isteadandifield.org.uk/page8.html
The only HM I've got lined up at the moment is the Wissey Half in Norfolk in September. All I know of it is that it's flat, in the middle of nowhere, pretty low-key, and incorporates the British Masters' HM Championships. And it's three weeks before the Berlin Marathon, so a nice form indicator. http://www.rystonrunners.org.uk/joomla/index.php/wissey-half-marathon/wissey-half-marathon

Work on 3.50. Do several exact 4 laps of track for the k with 30 sec rests, aim to make 8 x3.50s

Waiting at the airport again, this makes up a surprisingly large part of my life these days.
I'd love it if I could use this downtime to run 10km, the timing would be about right, just need somewhere to change/wash and a nice perimeter road to run round.

I've just read about an Ultra Runner in the US who trains on top of multi story carparks whilst waiting on her connecting flights. (P.234 The Sports Gene by Epstein)
Babywipes for shower, no?

Showers in various airport lounges (and some airport toilets have showers you can pay for). #prioritypass
Some airport lounges have mini-gyms (and showers) too. I hate treadmills but a treadmill is better than trying to run in 40+ deg C heat.
Or just hack a travelator to run at 12kph.

I think you should just put your kit on, and do laps of the airport.

I've seen a bunch of people doing that in some hub in the states, Chicago, Cincinnati ... Or something. A group of close to 20. I assume airport workers on lunch break but it looked like they were having fun.

Next time I'm stuck on a super long layover I'm definitely going for a run round the departure lounge. :-)
in other news, i'm definitely not running copenhagen on sunday. chest infection still running wild. 2 lots of anti-biotics have done nothing and still got 7 days until x-ray results.
haven't run once since vlm. feeling massively shit about it too. just want to be healthy again.
