I've got a manual focus Miranda 28mm f/2.8 in K-Mount you can have if you want? It's not going to set the world alight but it all works and there's no scratches/fungus/etc.

Anyone here able to give some recommendations on Eye Culture in Bethnal? I have a stack of undeveloped film that has been lurking in my fridge for erm, two years, and a lot of it needs pushing. Don't know what the cheapest option is though, as they don't have a website - develop and get the smallest prints and scan the good ones myself, or ask if they'll scan them for me (if they even do that?) Otherwise I can post them somewhere, but I like the idea of supporting my local developer.

I wouldn't rely on a commercial service to scan my negatives, especially if some of them are problematic. Commercial studio might be better equipped, but no one will devote the time and effort to optimize each negative on an individual basis; businesses normally don't do that unless paid handsomely, only an enthusiast will do it for the love of it (in a perverse twist in the English-speaking world the term "amateur" which comes from "love" got loaded with negative connotations while "professional", which is often a by word for the routine and the mediocre, with positive ones...) .

I'll likely rescan anything that's worth the effort, but I need a way to just see what I've got first - we're talking a over a dozen rolls of film. On my equipment, scanning all of that would take a month.

Nicely put

In such circumstances perhaps you are right to go for commercial scanning to preliminary assess what's worthy or interesting from the rolls; or, with a bit of time on your hands and access to a flatbed with a film holder (even from the cheap variety) you could use it for the same purpose.

I wish I was completely wrong... it is a clear example how twisting the language is used to manipulate people's outlook

My flatbed takes too long. Hence asking a shop to do it.
So, back to the previous question - anyone know anything about pricing at eye culture?

Thanks! I do have a flickr but it's been pretty dead the last few years.
any recommendations for super compact 35mm cameras?
Olympus mju-II / Pentax Espio mini (the latter is 32mm but hey)..I've been using a mju II ever since i've lost my yashica t5 and i love it. Perfect camera to always have in your pocket.

Anyone on here that shoots large format? Thinking about starting to take pictures again and haven't decided yet if i'll go for a nice digital camera (canon 5D mkII or something) or a 5x4 field camera. Currently i mostly shoot medium format or 35mm slr but i find a dslr to do a much better job for the kind of pictures i take on 35mm and i find the square format of my mf camera to some what limiting.

i think to push and scan c41 film to disc its about £5 a roll (only done it once) its usually £3 a roll scanned to disc (unpushed) despite being a "commercial" service the guys in there know what they are doing, i've sent probably over 100 rolls through them as have many of my friends and they have never failed me.

Maybe a 6x45/6x9 camera would be good. It'll be medium format, without the square crop. I use a 4x5 for landscapes and portraits mainly. It's great, but maybe a little limiting.

I shoot LF. If you want to buy a field camera and/or lens let me know - got some wista and schneider gear kicking around.

Great, thanks!

no worries! if it is more expensive you might want to check out the guys at Chan photographic, just round the corner, if you shoot any black and white they hand develop that too.

Havana residents sell coffee and soda from their house windows to earn extra cash. 30p a cup, quick chat on what's happening in the hood and people go on their way. (leica m6/35 cron ASPH and tri-x)

I bought 40 rolls of expired film cheap, mostly for the 7 rolls of Neopan 1600 that were that were the only things not in canisters in the picture, pleasantly surprised to find that most of the rest was split between Provia 400x and Fuji Pro 400.
(And also that on testing the Neopan seems to have aged well (despite what this shot might suggest)

Love that portrait, great how you framed her within the metalwork! Are you working on a project out in havana?

I find that coarseness of the Neopan strangely appealing... as if is something physical I can feel that texture with my skin

Thank you. No this was a pure holiday break from work so just us walking around, speaking to people and enjoying Havana before it changes

I'm a big fan of both the 35/2.8 and 50/1.7 lenses.
