After my circa 3000km vredesteins literally came apart at the seams I have replaced them with a set of Maxxis Re-fuse. Initial impressions good but only ridden them in the dry. Anyone have experience of them in the wet?
@Dammit - noticed you have a pair on your time machine. How do you rate them?

You can get a pair of Vittoria Open Corsa CX III tyres with latex inner tubes for £75 here:

Is there any issue with an undersized latex tube in a tyre i.e. a 25mm tyre with a 19-23 latex tube.
I pretty much always do this with butyl tubes and it fine but about to try latex and the smaller ones are cheaper... just unsure if it's any more or less critical.

Latex stretches more than butyl so it'll be fine. I've run both butyl and latex 23mm tubes in 33mm cross tyres with no issue.

For anyone running 650b on their roadbike/tourer: My Panaracer Pari Moto front tire had a bad sidewall rip the other day, no sharp objects in sight. Shot Panaracer an email, and they are sending me a new tire free of charge despite saying that it is probably not a manufacturing issue (my guess is imperfect bead seating or brake rub). Meanwhile, I ordered a pair of Hutcheson Confrerie de 650b - they are much skinnier (32 vs 38), and quite a bit harsher than the Pari Motos, but their cornering grip is miles better - and at about 20 a pop, they are a steal.

clement strada llg and panaracer gravel kings?
Anyone?

^i'm interested to know this too. Also, best cheapest p*nct*re resistant tyres please? I know that is two variables, and they might cross at any given point, but if I add that continental gatorskins are too expensive for these purposes, that might help. maybe £15 - 18 a tyre, any suggestions?
thank you

At that price Rubino Pro 3s served me well on the road.

Going to be riding the CN72 along Hadrian's Wall in a few months and it seems the general vibe is - though it's doable on a road bike, it's far from ideal and I'd be wise to run wider tyres. Does anyone have any experience of it? I normally run Rubino Pro 23c tyres on my bikes and find them pretty decent puncture wise, though a bit slippy. Would 25s be suitable or should I up it to 28s? The Zaffiro Pro are only £10 on Wiggle at 28c - are they shit or would they be a good budget tyre for the gig?
-
• #1512
Yes Zaffiro's are shit.
Just fit the biggest tyres you can. You'll have more fun and suffer fewer snakebites.

35mm tyres on open pros are ok.
How wide you can go will probably depend on how much tyre clearance the frame gives you (usually at the fork crown, rear brake bridge and chainstays).

Saw some Corsa CS ones on ebay at £30 a go. Anyone know the difference in spec?
Or is it just a letter?bt
-
• #1516
Cool, cheers. I ride a frame of exquisite Italian craftsmanship and refinement, with the smallest of clearances, so maybe I'll stick with 28s

SC is gumwall, CX is black. Same construction.

Are black or black with cream walls Schwalbe lugano accepted in velodromes? I read that Vittoria, Schwalbe and continental are the recommended brands as long as they're not coloured. But luganos are double compound afaik. And what about any other single compound black tyres? Are they really that picky in velodromes in general, London in particular? Tnx

• #1519
Thanks fella ;)
As for all-black tyres, I use Rubinos. Fairly cheap, roll ok and easy to get on/off

At least half of ^ that can't be true.

I was exaggerating for comedic effect. I have 23s on at the moment. If the rear wheel is pulled back in the dropouts I think a 28 will fit.

Conti 4 seasons or Schwalbe durano?
I don't like punctures and they may well be ridden in all weather. I'll also be using them for several 100m+ days so it would be nice if they rolled well and reasonably comfortably (they'll be 25c). Is there anything else I should be considering?
-
• #1523
I've been quite happy with my Duranos. 000 of km's on the TT bike last year and I fitted a new set recently and they've done turbo stuff as well as recent 400 and 600k audaxes with no issues.
Conti can explode in huge fireballs and kill any innocent children within 50k radius.
-
• #1524
Thanks, are you using just the standard duranos, not the S or plus etc.?
-
• #1525
I've used the Durano Plus and they are just stupidly durable but I thought I'd compromise a bit on the p resistance and go for the slightly nicer rolling, more supple, lighter Duranos. The 'S' version are a race tyre I think and given I'm just doing long miles for training and audax they aren't what I need - durability is more important.
Any one used both clement strada llg and panaracer gravel kings?
