  • Don't remember it having almost 59cm of seat tube!! Would have been miles too big for me!

  • My CAAD 10's headset is constantly loose. I've used some micro spacers and can fit a piece of paper under the dust cap and head tube. Why!!!!

  • do you feel play on headset or you just have this space? It's normal, that there is space between dust cap and head tube. If there was no space, dust cap would rub on head tube.

  • I assume they mean that the headset is loose, despite deploying micro-spacers to make sure that the looseness isn't caused by the dust cap pressing against the headtube and preventing bearing preload.

@AJE98 have you taken the bearing cartridges out and checked if they're knackered?

  • I almost pulled the trigger on this as a spare. Good buy I reckon, looking forward to seeing the build.

  • Stem over tightened in the past, so it sits in a steerer tube 'dent' not applying any preload?

  • Don't know one for sale but I miss mine, Great frames.

  • Looking like I wont get my hands on the SystemSix now. Never use 'ipostparcels' as a courier. They are useless! Collected the parcel and then claimed they never collected it and they can't find it on their system. Absolute joke. So unfortunately it seems that this frame has gone to a heaven in a warehouse somewhere in Exeter.

  • Wow. That sucks :(

  • For fucks sake. So you can't get your money back either?

  • I should do as I bought it through ebay so they will refund me. It's not the sellers fault i've talked to him on the phone, although he did choose to use a company called 'ipostparcels' so...

  • Polished would be ace; if you're hanging about Norwich for the summer I'll be around if you need a hand with anything

  • That'd be rad mate, not leaving until about 5th july

  • Gutted, take it with PayPal (if that's how you paid).

  • how much for the frameset?

  • Not for sale now as the SystemSix went walkies. Unless anyone has a SystemSix 54cm they want to sell me, there is one on ebay but it looks super dodgy.

  • It's a brand new headset and frame/fork. Will try it with a conventional bung and top cap instead of the cannondale si one

  • Anyone got a good guide/manual for swapping chainrings on hollowgram sl cranks? Or is it pretty intuitive? Attempting it for the first time tomorrow...

  • Installing the spider ring?

You'll need to remove the DS crank with the correct tool, pop it in a softjaw vice then use the lock ring tool to remove the lock-ring, which has a normal threading. The spider will then slide off the back of the crank with a bit of persuasion. Pop the ring on in its place - you can't mount it incorrectly - then pop a bit of loctite on the lock-ring threads and bolt it down to the curiously specific 47nm, which is tight-as if you are a 60kg weakling like me.

If you are just changing chainrings there's nothing specific about it, same as any other crank.

  • Yes mate! Thanks for the info. Struggled to find a comprehensive guide online. Have got all the tools so should be good to go thanks to you.

In other news... Bought a synapse hi mod ultegra from Paul's Cycles. They sent the wrong colour and it came with a 32t cassette and medium cage mech when it was listed as 11-28. They're sending me a replacement cassette but still a bit of a ballache. Price was pretty good though so not grumbling too much. £40 for short cage mech and might keep the medium cage one, cassette and compact rings just in case I need to ride up any vertical walls into gale force headwinds

  • Bought a synapse hi mod ultegra from Paul's Cycles

Photos pls. I'd keep the medium cage on it if it means you can slam the 32t cassette in there with the road double ring if where you are going is super-climby.

  • Don't bother with short cages mech, make no difference whatsoever.

  • I'm just being fussy really, dislike the long cages, think they look clunky. But I can't be too fussy as I'll need to put mud guards on it etc so it's never going to be porn worthy.

Very low light photo. Still has frame protection film on etc. Need to swap out saddle and cassette and source a longer stem before she's ready to ride

  • Ah cool. I've seen one of these in the flesh. That blue gloss paint job is actually pretty good I think. One of the better ones, certainly. Synapse doesn't photograph well but in the flesh it's a looker when set up properly.

  • It have mudguard mount?

That set-up is very... 17 years old sales assistant.
