I have now put the Rancilio Grinder on Gumtree
http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/rancilio-rocky-doseur-professional-coffee-grinder/1116249167
It might end up on eBay if I can't find someone on here/on Gumtree

20 minute commute. Might need a specialized bike for the task. Have you got any advice?

Daily goods, Camberwell church street is the nearest I know of.
There is also a pop-up type coffee place on Portland street that might be worth a look. Not sure if its just espresso to go or if they stock beans too. It's part of the man-and-van shop (Rocket Van?)

I gave those a try, not very impressed. I found it to be a bit inconsistent with how smooth the coffee flowed through. I had the fine mesh version and it was as if the holes were getting blocked. Maybe you wouldn't get that problem with the standard version.

Esters a couple of blocks south of Church Street, or Yellow Warbler opposite Abney Park Cemetery. Vagabond is good too.

just found this, next time you're in Barcelona, head over to Girona for coffee/bikes etc
Opened up by Canadian Pro cyclist Christian Meier (Orica greenedge) & his wife Amber.

Cross posted from CP, sorry.
Wish I'd taken comprehensive pics of this as a project, but I do go at these things like a cow at a gate.
I've built a coffee cart with a view to targeting cycling events. Modified the bike (dont worry the disc and bars were damaged in a crash), built the counter and restored the espresso machine.

Apols. I'm sure this has been asked before:
Any recommendations for a reasonably priced tamper? Nothing fancy needed.
[ I bought a used Gaggia Classic for £20, cleaned it... and it isn't a heap of junk! ]

Happy Donkey sell their own. I have a Motta that I bought from http://www.creamsupplies.co.uk/index.php?searchStr=tamper&act=viewCat although they don't show as being 53.5mm so I wouldn't risk it (Cream Supplies are a good company mind).

Motta ones are nice, and not overpriced. I wouldn't worry too much about the size of it to a tenth of a millimetre. Coffee people sometimes get a bit carried away, a bit like with HiFi heads. I do use a VST basket though!

Thanks all.
I went with a 58mm convex tamper from Happy Donkey.

how long does the Gaggia Classic take to warm up?
Also what is the maximum cup/mug height?
Considering an upgrade over my Delonghi EC155 that has served me very well over 7 years, but has finally had it I think....

I'm sad enough to have measured this. Ambient temp will make some difference, but it properly settles into a rhythm after about 20.

whoa. any reccomendations for something a little faster? just looking for an upgrade to delonghi, that wont cost the earth...i'm not a massive coffee geek, but a decent morning double is part of the routine...

I turn it on shortly after 'standing up' as part of my morning routine :-)
Not quite Stokey but Vagabond on Stroud Green Road is v good, it's gets a little crowded with prams on occasional but the coffee is great and the guys who run are pretty friendly. They are also one of the few places that make a decent iced coffee. What is it with people and blending it?
