Good work @hippy
Do you enjoy the strange looks at Taunton Deane Services? (The K&SW 600 uses that as a control and it's always fun to see motorists faces as you turn up to a Motorway Services on a bike...)
Anyway, I never have to do another 600 again so there's that..
Just one from StQeY to Brest and another back again. But they'll be a LOT different from a lone bash to the SouthWest and back.

I rode past the entrance to those services after looking at the boom and then had to double back for them. There's an easy hour I could take off just from stupid navigational mistakes.
I didn't really notice any strange looks to be honest. Then again, I've spent long enough wandering around in full lycra that I probably ignore them. There were some youths in a car at a Salisbury? servo in the early hours that asked if I got my kit from gays r us or something similar. For some reason they didn't want to come and have a closer look though.
PBP is an interesting prospect now - I'll only have a month or so of time to adapt to the road bike (totally different saddle) and most of that will be spent trying to walk again after Mersey Roads I guess. I'll also be at the mercy of bunches of dirty foreigners with interesting ideas about bunch etiquette I'm sure... :S
Well I didn't get near my 24hr mark but it was a course record by ~2hrs apparently.
"First half of the Beast was very enjoyable - nice weather, cool scenery (bit of a headwind though) and some good chatting with Adrian who's training for the TransAm this year. Second half it all went bad with Garmin gremlins galore, a lack of open shops and so a lack of food, a lack of clothing (I was seriously considering asking some coppers if I could kip for 20mins in a cell just to warm up) and just general misery. I'm sure I tried about 10 different service stations with all the associated detours before I found one with a working toilet. City boy ignorance shining through where everything is open at 4am here! Doh! Anyway, I never have to do another 600 again so there's that.."
