The screen has gone on my iPhone 4s, and as I like my nexus 7 I'm looking to replace it with an Android phone.
Any advice on where to start looking?
My use is pretty average and I probably won't ever use a smartphone to its fullest. The main things I use are;

It would need to be better than my 4s to make it worth not just replacing the screen again. I was wondering about the Xperia Z1 Compact as it's a bit smaller. I tend to have a rule about not buying Sony products, but the Sony Ericsson I used to have were faultless.
