  • i said it might seem low, but we have overpaid the difference to the mortgage and thats why we only owe 120k aged 30.

then she was like: but what about your car, do you have one on finance yes? i said no i have a car but it cost £390 pounds and a chicken kebab about 2 months ago. you probably dont have a box for the kebab expenditure on your form do you?

thf to her she did laugh at that but then went back to the computer says burgh script.

  • Must hold back from the rant about us all being tied into a bullshit financial system that is designed to ever grow until we've exhausted all available resources apart from the ones left to burn everything with fire

  • But what do I care, my house increased in value by about 60% in less than three years

  • Stupid city.

  • If they're titting about like this this early on I'd be worried of them chipping their offer at completion

    Didin't even get that far...

  • Mortgage in place. Solicitor's cogs turning. Waiting. Waiting.

  • This story makes me cross just reading about it... any chance of waiting till they've had all their surveys done before mugging them off?!

  • Three viewings tomorrow, one potentially on Tuesday and another next Friday

  • Anyone have a Nest thermostat? Worth the price?

  • A lot of folk I know have one and only have good things to say (unlike the smoke alarm) - I decided to hold off until closer to winter, as it might get a hardware revision after being the same for 18 months.

  • Do it just to spite the cunts

  • That's kind of my motto

  • Such wrath. Bad karma.

  • Council tax bandings are just nonsense right? The value of the property in 1991?

  • No but I would buy one.

  • Ok. The BS mortgage will be checking my bank account. I don't have massive permanent outgoings each month but I do spend my wages to the max. Didn't need to save as I had enough to cover the deposit.

Should fret about cash (read beer) withdrawals and pizza delivery?

  • Yep. The new government policy will be counting windows.

  • Nah. My wages all go on shit like that and they didn't say nuffin.
I think as long as you earn X and dont spend <X then you're good.

On the other hand, I got a letter from hmrc today. I owe them 4p.
Should be a fun hour trying to pay that off on Monday.

  • Pay it via cheque.

  • After 14 years of full employment they still send me letters about NI contributions.

  • There was a bit of discussion of them here https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/260435/

I have a cheap knock-off. It's worth it for when I go away and forget to turn my heating down but it would be a lot better if I remembered I actually had it and remotely controlled my heating rather than forgetting until I get home.

  • @WjPrince

We are in exactly the same situation, Foxtons valued us high, we agree offer and then the buyers mortgage company say it's worth £40k less. We were also told this valuation then sets a precedent for future buyers.
In our case we have dropped the agreed value £5k and the buyer is swallowing the rest, if your buyers have their parents helping this might still be a viable outcome.

I wonder if the government has leaned on mortgage lenders to low ball valuations to slow the market?

  • Or maybe Foxtons are dicks who overinflate prices. Tough call.

  • ^ very much this. they pander to greedy sellers who then get grumpy when the mortgage valuations come in lower. shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone.
