Scrap metal. Yes. I know. Leave it on the street and someone will get it.
However, if I wanted to call a yard/merchant would they come out and collect an old electric oven? For free?

Seems unlikely, there's not much in there for them. Prices are quite low at the moment, you're probably looking at £60/ton if you take it to them, not worth the trip for either party.
