I bought an SKX007 because I was worried about the Omega or Oris getting stolen / damaged on holiday.

My travel insurance covers jewellery etc up to £10k which covers all four with room to spare.

why are Steinhart ocean one more expensive on eBay than they are direct from Steinhart?

It's a Steinhart. They're all cyclops apart from Ocean Black & vintage.

If I was to pick up an actual Submariner, i'd probably go without one...

Yes. That's why you take them off and pop them in the tray with your wallet / hand luggage / small change / belt, before walking through the metal detecting gate in security.

I've never had to take my watch off at security...
