After 4 years of heavy touring and off-roading, the rivets on the bottle cage mounts went, and the threads started to fail on the rack mounts. I also wanted better, more consistent brakes, and not to wear out my rims. Hence the desire for disc brakes and steel. I looked at all the options very carefully and it seemed like the croix was the best option, but did not expect the wheelbase to be 20mm longer than the vapour, I thought the geo would be closer.
