Let's see what Adrian Flux say tomorrow. I'm currently trying to persuade her that the 190 is a suitable first car for her. If I suggest she finds something else to learn to drive in that's another spanner in the works. I asked her to find a suitable alternative and she found a Yaris with 100k on the clock, and a 14 year old Audi A2. That's how crucial this situation is.

That said, a TDI Audi A3 could turn my head.

Insure the car first. Then add her as a named driver later. That worked for me on my old Rover. Couldn't get the policy unless the main driver had 2 years of licence, but one I had it it was a tenner admin fee to add anyone I wanted.

I've been looking into Citroen CX's recently as I've always wanted a DS or SM, but they're getting too pricey and rare.

Anyone ever had any experience with em? I've heard (like most French cars of this age) that they can be total rust buckets - but that they are also incredibly comfortable innovative cruisers. Also - they look freakin' awesome!

Get a DS, at least the DS were made in slough and have a cult following and you can still get all the suspension rebuild parts. 'Mine' lands on in September and will see how bad it is.

Or buy one from south africa, right hand drive built from kits, rust free if you buy the right one. Saying that I saw a cs sport estate while in france that was in a breakers year as well as a 104 convertable....now that made me think... Also saw an Honda s800, nice tr3a, at a garage near the N10 by Paris....
